Dont waste your money on any product that claims that it will get rid of your spots, most of them will either make them worse, or make your face really red and sore with the spots still on your face........!
i second that!

ps: acid, you have the best avatars!

for removing make-up, olay soap is very nice to the skin and gets rid of the make-up. also dove exfoliating soap works well for that too. leaves my skin feeling nicely.

I third that. The way to prevent breakouts is to treat your skin as gently as possible.

I really think that all the harsh anti-acne products aimed at teenagers (Oxy, Stridex, etc.) serve to perpetuate the cycle of breakouts and keep the customers coming back for more (they get more pimples, they use more and more anti-acne products more often). Not to sound like a total conspiracy theorist or anything, but I think that the makers of such products aren't putting the right kind of research into their teen-oriented creams and such...they figure that since teens are the demographic with the biggest acne problem any strong formulation will do.

I also think a lot of acne products are targeted to our desire for a quick fix. Make it go away now! Unfortunately, what really makes the difference is consistent and meticulous attention to detail. And noone wants to buy that!

-Apricot Scrub (St. Ives ) My friend is an estician and it

it works as the most wonderful body scrub for me!
I use on my feet only :ninja: [/b][/quote]
It clogs my drain. I also don't love the way it feels, although it's ok for feet (or possibly body scrubbing).

I use a Clinique exfoliating scrub that's lovely. :P I haven't tried their other products, but I'll take your word for it that they're bad.

Pert Plus shampoo makes your hair feel really nice the first day or so, but it really adds buildup to your hair. :yuk: Any hair stylist will tell you (in my experience) that it's a really crappy formula.

I love Burt's Bees, I used a lot of their products. But seriously, seriously, stay away from the Orange Essence Facial Cleanser with Orange Oil. It didn't cleanse, made my face slimy and my pores looked huge. I didn't even know a product could do that to pores.

Redken - I don't have a lot of luck with it. It does cleanse, soften, straighten, whatever it claims to do, but definitely not in an amazing way for the price. If you're going to buy the good stuff, you may as well buy something that works incredibly. I've used Straight, All Soft, and several of their shampoos and conditions.

Clinique - Don't even get me started  Everything I've tried from them was/is junk except for the Oil-Free Turnaround Cream. It's amazing. Put it on fine lines or dry spots from picking and treating your zits with creams, you'll see results immediately and even more in hours.

I flat out refuse to use anything by rimmel, as they say you get what you pay for and rimmel is just useless - the eyeshadows aren't strong enough, the lipsticks are dry and the eyeliner stings like hell!

Imo you should buy more expensive make up that will last you longer and is so much easier to apply!

Everyone says Rimmel eyeshadows aren't intense enough... I bought one in white once, it was powder... VERY thick and intense!! Way too much for me... I chucked it

may i suggest Duane Reade brand make up remover cloths? my make up artist used them and they did a fabulous job, i also like to use them on the go when im oily or something. and theyre fairly cheap!

John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette shampoo, doesn't clean anything and didn't do anything to my hair color, what a ripoff, I had limp weighed down yucky hair when I used it.

Don't buy Wet N Wild ANYTHING. Ok their nailpolish is perfectly fine, but MAKEUP?! Doonnn't gooo there!

actually, i read a book... some big thing that came out a few years ago about make up and reviewed all the brands and all that.

it said that like.. 99% of all pencil eyeliners are mostly made up of the same ingredients, so when you buy a wet n' wild one for $1, you're getting just about the same thing as you would in any other eyeliner, regardless of price or brand.

i think wet n wild sucks for nail polish- it chips so fast!! but i use concealer from there (hey it's cheap and it works as well as the $5-$10 ones) and their clear lipgloss is WONDERFUL!! lip liners are icky, but the eyeliners are good.

my *favorite* single make up item, though, are the lip/cheek stains from Lorac. i'm blonde and fairly pale, but when i go out at night, i'll use bronzer and then a little of the red stain over my nose/cheeks/forehead and on my shoulders so i look like i just got a touch of sunburn. it stays super well on the lips, too.

Things I tried, but hated:

Most Drugstore makeup, hair products, and body/face products. NEVER buy cheap drugstore mascara - it will ruin your lashes. It makes them grow slower and fall out faster and loose their color.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara ( the pink and green tube) - everyone raved about it, so i thought i should give it a try too. A few seconds after i put it on, my eyes started to sting very badly! and i coldnt wash the mascara off. When i finally got it off using every makeup remover i had, my eyes were red a horribly swollen. and it left dark ( stains) circles around my eyes that didnt come off for a couple of days! and im not allergic to beauty products, especially mascaras. So i figured that wasnt me - it was just that horrible mascara. My friend used it too -and the same thing happend to her.

I also dont like Proactiv Solution products. They claim to get rid of acne. I used them...at first they worked ( for about 4 months), but my skin was soooo dry, flaky and red! But, after a short while, they just stopped working. So dont waste your money on them.

I hated MAC lipgloss. I tried my friend's. It made my lips very dry and chapped, and it was hard to clean off - it just wouldnt come off!

Any self tanner. They are ALL bad. and leave you streaky and orange - even the high end brands.

Bourjois - lipglosses - they are bad. they dont last. I couldnt see the colors, no matter how much I put of it on. and they dried my lips.

Things I tried and liked:

Bronzer -from English Ideas. It gives me a nice, natural looking, slightly shimmering and glowing tan. its actually a powder for dark skinned women but it works great as a bronzer too.

Rimmel Eyeliners- They are actually better than my MAC ones.

Sinful Colors lipglosses ( at sinfulcolors.com) They remind me of Chanel glosses - and stay on just as long and come in lots of different colors, just as my Chanel ones. ( and I also recommend Chanel gloss - its nice too)

Wet and Wild lipstick in 518B ( a kind of a deep mauve pink with a hint of beige)- I got it because i kept reading about it, in different magazines - many makeup artists would recoment this shade. And i really like it. it lasts a long time. And looks nice.

Dior cream eyeshadows.
Chanel face crayons. And Chanel Foundations are great.

I felt like trying BonneBell new Vita Gloss - and I was suprised! I put a bit of it on, and it lasted for a long time, and made my lips nice and soft. and it actually plumped them a bit ( although, the product doesnt claim to do so). it tasted a bit bitter, though....but its much better than any lip balm or chapstick i used.

For skincare and haircare i prefer to use products from stores that sell to salons and professionals.

for my face and body I like Queen Helene products - masks, scrubs, creams.

And, Beyond Belief Alpha- Beta Hydroxy cream got rid of my pimples.

I know a lot of people hate St. Ives Apricot Scrub - But i LOVE it!!! But if you want something very gentle use Queen Helene Oatmeal 'N Honey scrub, or Beyond Belief Alpha- Beta Hydroxy scrub ( it makes a great face mask too).

i disagree with you about maybelline great lash mascara. it's all i use. ive tried mac and i dint like it. i use mascara for parties only becuase my lashes are naturally long so when i put this on everyone was asking me if i was wearing fake lashes. i dont tink its something you should wear every day because its really dramatic but i get so many people tell me they love it! :flower:
