Early Oscar Buzz/Nominations*Update*Complete List of Winners

*** If we go by this Crash has a good chance at getting Best Picture and George Clooney has some competition for supporting actor. Interesting.....

you mean nomination right... there is no way in practicality that "Crash" will recieve Best Pic...
As for Paul Giamatti: *pity votes* :innocent:

If Crash wins best picture it'll be a huge suprise... I don't think there's generally a correlation between SAG ensemble win and Academy award BP win though... they usually give it the movie with the most actors lol :innocent: ... no i'm j/k.. i'm exaggerating a bit.

But I think Paul Giammiti has a huge chance at winning because of the "oops we're sorry about that" factor.. because he didn't even get a nomination for his work in Sideways. Supp Actor/actress is usually where they try and right their wrongs.. or give it to someone they feel is due... IE Renee Zellweger for Cold Mountain or Cate Blanchett for The Aviator.

If SAGs indicated anything.. its that the acting categories besides supporting actor are pretty much sealed... IMO.. PSH, Witherspoon, Rachel Weisz..

I was going to discuss the connections usually associated between winners at SAG, and the Oscars...
SAG tends to give the ensemble award to films with either a extremely large cast (e.g. "Gosford Park," "Lord of the Rings," "Traffic") or a small cast (e.g. "The Full Monty," "Sideways").
The film's ensemble winner should have enough merit or buzz to last them through than just a great cast. Examples include "American Beauty," "Lord of the Rings," and "Chicago." I still don't know what to say about "Shakespeare In Love" though. :innocent: Ensemble winners usually end up with screenplay awards (i.e. "Gosford Park," "Sideways")

I wish the Academy would create an ensemble category...

It would also shock and make me happy if Gong Li were somehow nominated out of nowhere for supporting Actress. For picture I would prefer Munich over Capote.

wow, german movie -sophie scholl- is nominated

Yawn yadda yadda. I can't believe I wasted so many nights of my teenage years staying up and watching this nonsense. MTV movie awards are the way to go. The skits are funny and nobody is up themselves.

Ok I hope I don't sound like a hater when I say this, but I gotta say it: I'll never understand why Michelle Williams is getting nomiated for all these awards. Yes I've seen BBM and thought it was good, but she was like in the movie for 20 seconds, max. She said 'Jack Nasty' hashly...and that's Oscar and GG worthy? I can completely understand heath and jake's nominations as they were phenomenal, but michelle? Maybe someone can help me to understand a little better cause I'm just not getting it.

dlg

I don't understand how Keria Knightly is nominated for best actress, for Pride and Prejudice?? come on

YAY!!!
I'm really excited for the enexpected noms: Amy Adams, Terrence Howards (really surprised), Paul Haggis (Newsweek was right on target with the direction nominees), and OMG Don Cheadle, Jake Gyllenhaal, and William Hurt got in!!! Those I'm definitely surprised by...

And "Walk the Line" didn't get a Best Pic nom....
Where is the love for "King Kong"???
:angry::angry::angry:

What a diss to Zhang Ziyi... nominated for at all the major award shows and then shut out at the end, but t's not like her acting is superb at all. And what surprise for Terrence Howard... shut out at all the prior awards shows, but nominated when it matters the most.

why is kiera knightley nominated!!???? She was good in Pride and Prejudice but NOT EVEN CLOSE TO DESERVE A NOMINATION!?! at least the academy came to their senses and didn't nominate ZiYi for Memoirs, ug, what a terrible actress she was in that.
