Early Oscar Buzz/Nominations '06-'07

I'm confused... April is before June, right? Wouldn't that make Abigail older then?

After reading your and Meg's posts, I was seriously thinking who is younger, one born in April or in June.

Oh my - I'm so ashamed! I would in fact delete that post if my mixup wasn't moderately funny. yes april is before june therefore she is older by a couple of months.

Poor Leo. If it wasn't for Forresst, this would totally be his year.:(

I'm a little annoyed by the Alan Arkin, Little Miss Sunshine nomination. I LOVED the movie and everyone's peformances in it. Alan Arkin,IMO dosen't deserve an oscar for yelling about "nazi bullets" for half of the movie.:innocent:

I might get scorned for saying this but I feel a bit sorry for Dakota fanning. Yes, I know I shouldn't relate every child star to her but if anyone is deserving of an oscar nod, I would peg it on Dakota fanning but Abigail was awesome in Little Miss Sunshine even if it is one of her first big roles.

Yes, I agree. If it wasn't for Forest, Leo would get the Oscar......this keeps happening to him

I'm soo happy Abigail was nominated; I loved her in LMS. Also happy about Ryan Gosling and Babel. Kinda relieved that Dreamgirls isn't in it for best picture.
However, very dissapointed Brad didn't get nominated.

Penelope is great actress, no doubts, but I was a bit surprised to see her among nominees. But anyway, Mirren or Streep will probably win.
Poor Leo. If it wasn't for Forresst, this would totally be his year.
I agree. He was nominated TWICE at GG awards for 'Best Actor' and got NOTHING... I was disappointed :(

Isn't Tatum O'neal the youngest Academy Award winner?

WTF at Dreamgirls getting 3 nominations in the Best Song category. That's just ridiculous.

I kinda figured that Borat would be in there somewhere...

I would love to see Meryl Streep walk away with Best Actress but I KNOW it's gonna be Helen Mirren and I don't have a problem with that.

Is abigail the youngest person to ever be nominated for a main acting award?!! I'm so surprised! Or does that honor still go to anna paquin?

The youngest is actually Justin Henry, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Kramer vs. Kramer in 1980 when he was only 8 years old.

   !!!

...imagine there's an upset....and this is the outcome...

  • Meryl Streep wins for Best Actress
  • Abigail Breslin wins for Best Supporting Actress
  • Ryan Gosling wins for Best Actor
  • Alan Arkin wins for Best Supporting Actor
But of course Babel winning all 7 nominated category including Best Picture which in no doubt it will walk away with the statue :woot: B)
