I just saw a Velvet Underground 'documentary' last night with footage of Edie dancing. It's the first time I've seen it on film. I liked the way she danced, compared to Ingrid Superstar who just copied her later on.

what documentry was this? was it something on TV, or vhs/dvd? please inform a complete Velvet Underground nut!

Odelay, you should try to find the Velet Underground Anthology. It's rare but i found it at this movie store that carries rare ones. But it has EVERYTHING Velvet Underground and a lot of rare Nico footage, like her John Cale and Lou Reed in Paris

I had one anthology (I don't remember which, there are many bottleg copies floating around) that had the South Bank Show, Bataclan, the shorter version of A Symphony of Sound, Frozen Warnings, whatever that recording of the Poor Richard's Show is called that's mostly lights and dancers, among a couple of others.. stupid me, I traded it for bootleg cd's and didn't make a copy beforehand. Different ones tend to pop up on ebay and things, sometimes you can get a pretty good deal. Which is the one you have, babydoll?

There's a little Nico footage, might be a little Edie footage (?) on the Lou Reed documentary, Rock and Roll Heart. I'll make crappy digital screencaps of that and Ciao! and post them here!

Yeah the one you had is the one i have. I loved the Rock and Roll heart documentary! It's impossible to see that and not love Lou Reed! You should deffinetly make screen caps of Edie and Nico from it, the footage of Nico singing in it is beautiful.

I'm with you there. I love Edie and I would (almost) love for more people to know about her but I know a movie will only make fair weather fans and movies NEVER get the facts right. Hopefully because this movie is going to be made, someone will write a new bio about her and maybe they'll be some unreleased pics of her floating around and David Weisman (one of the guys who made Ciao!) will finally release the movie he wanted to make about working with Edie with all the unreleased footage he has of her. Maybe some good will come out of this movie being made.

I agree with you both. Last year I read Edie: American Girl and wanted to get my hands on more books but the rest didn't seem very good.

I'm excited about the movie though... hope it doesn't dissapoint!

Actually, some girl put together all the Velvet Underground footage out there into a one hour long film, it was awful. It's not published or anything. You've probably seen it all. As a huge Velvet fan, you would have been dissappointed. But the admission was only $1!!

gettyimages always says who's in the picture in the captions but since i don't know what category you looked under i can't tell.

It might be the Nat Finklestein. He had that showing of Edie photographs he took, and Sienna went and bought some of them.

i remember reading in the edie book how the sedgwick family nose was long and pointed down, and how none of the kids got it. looks like mischa got a little unlucky with that!

I also didn't think it was a good idea when she was cast as Edie in that play just because of her being in the family.She just seems creepy using Edies fame to get herself a career.

Have you guys seen Sienna in the new Vogue? She's dressed up as Edie but she still doesn't look like her. Sienna doesn't have the sadness and the sexuality Edie had. Sienna just looks like a bimbo. I can't wait for everyone to be copying Sienna and not know anything about Edie!

I think the editorial looks horrible! I couldn't agree more with you. Sienna looks nothing like Edie, and instead just looks way too smiley and I actually find her too old looking, as well. Not to mention she just doesn't resemble Edie in the slightest!

I was talking to my sister about this just today, too; how we think that Sienna's going to start this trend just as she did with the "boho" this past summer, but many of the people copying it won't know anything about the culture, the attitude, and even Edie herself...
