Incroyable said:Ellen von Unwerth is a Teutonic who is fond of flash, and grainy film.
She is like a neo-Helmut Newton with less of the aesthetic.
You think Newtons portrayal of women is often misogynistic ? I must say thats not something I associate his work with. While I think Newton doesn't portray a great variety of "types" of women.. I find in many of his photos an admiration for strong amazonian womenbleuFunk said:I definitely see a Newton influence in much of her work, but i personally prefer her to Newton. I find Newton to often be misogynistic in his works. Whereas Ellen, in my eyes, maintains a subtle feminine quality at all times. It's both blunt and coy at the same time, which i think is a tricky balance. There is a playfulness in them.
That being said, i tend to prefer her vibriant color images, which are more unique to her. Like the Bebe ads she's done. I think those are a bit more original as well.
