Ahhhhh! :buzz: :buzz:

I get too excited over fellow Chinese people  But man! Zhou Xun! She's such an inspiration :flower:

The seasonal fashion ads that are featured in our magazines are extremely important elements for a brand. Because the photographs need to convey a strong sense of the brand's style for the season, not even the set designer can be careless during the entire process of creating the campaign. At the same time, because the fashion market's primary consumer rests in the regions of Europe, the US, and Japan, the models selected for such campaigns have usually followed the tall, European mold. Thus, eastern faces are rarely seen. From what this writer can recollect, only a few international brands have featured Asians in their campaigns: Prada with Jing Cheng Wu (I know he has a English name, I just can't remember O_o), and Vivienne Tam. However, now we can add one more brand under that category: the directors of Miu Miu's fall/winter campaign snagged three Asian faces to be its spokemodels without hesitation. These three are domestic actress Zhou Xun, who is a household name, Dong Jie, and Japan's Linda Ohta.

The set for this campaign's shoot takes place in the Laperouse mansion of Baron Bruillevert, Louis XIV's designer for his famous Versailles Gardens (Perhaps the shoot's location has something to do with the fact that Miu Miu had its runway show in Paris?). According to designer Miuccia Prada, the reason the three women were chosen is because they all perpetuated different auras and personalities. For example, Zhou Xun is elegant yet somewhat determined, while Dong Jie retains a softer sense of beauty and personality. Under the direction of photographers Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Miu Miu's fall/winter style of "casual Haute Couture" comes to life.

Top left: Miu Miu's fall/winter campaign defied tradition and used eastern faces, an action that has surprised many. And since the brand's new boutique, rumored to open in Jin Sa Zui (A borough of Hong Kong) in September, we might even see these two spokemodels present for the celebration there!

Middle right: Miu Miu's fall/winter campaign labels itself with a casual sense of haute couture, using the images presented in the classic French tale "Angelique" as its inspiration.

Bottom left: To use three eastern faces as the models of Miu Miu is a huge first-time experiment for the brand.

Bottom right: Every brand takes its photoshoot seriously, because an impressive campaign could very well mean impressive sales for the season.

Hilary Swank for Guerlain Fragrance

http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/cgi/news/release?id=164907

This is from Feb. 27
Guerlain, the luxury French fragrance and beauty company, has appointed Hilary Swank as the spokesperson for its upcoming women's fragrance, launching in September 2006.

The double Oscar-winning actress will present the 78th Academy Awards ceremony on March 5th.

Guerlain's heritage and historical legacy is integral to the trusting relationship it enjoys with those customers in search of the ultimate expression of luxury. Recent successful launches including L'Instant de Guerlain fragrances for women and men, KissKiss lipstick and Orchidée Impériale skincare, along with the reopening of the prestigious La Maison Guerlain on the Champs-Elysées are testimony to the continued momentum of the brand.

Today, Guerlain announces its association with an international film star. In search of more than just a face, Guerlain looked for a woman with a personality and character that embody the Guerlain spirit. Guerlain and Hilary Swank are a perfect match. Acting as both muse and spokesperson, Hilary will inspire and represent Guerlain for the next three years.

This uniquely talented actress received two Oscars before the age of thirty and has long been praised for her integrity and credibility on screen. In all her roles, be it as a delinquent or as a boxer, she has seduced thousands of film-lovers with her ability to transform into difficult, challenging and heart rending characters.

A radiant and natural beauty, Hilary displays a clear determination in all her that she undertakes. This witty, smiling young woman has boldly and passionately seized her own destiny and it is this force, this strength, that appealed to the directors of Guerlain.

Guerlain has a tradition of breaking the rules and not bowing to convention, as seen with so many of its audacious and innovative creations. Removed from the world of glitter and glamour, Guerlain has crafted an image of artistry and excellence.

In much the same way, Hilary is renowned for her talent and energy. Her beauty escapes those who try to define it. Neither fiercely independent nor desperately vulnerable, she does not conform to stereotypes. Her background of always opting for the more challenging and 'risky' roles coupled with her warm and genuine personality, a far cry from the usual Hollywood mold, were all factors that made her an obvious choice for Guerlain.
In a rare combination of beauty and talent, heritage and innovation, Guerlain will proudly reveal its new fragrance, fronted by Hilary Swank, in September 2006.

I think she looks the best in that ad :woot:. Just stunning!.

thanks! :flower: I didn't recognize her, maybe it'll be more apparent in a larger pic. I also thought Bette looked like Michaela.

I love the new miu miu preview too! Looks great... this season is shaping up real well so far. Can't wait for Versace.

I cannot wait to see the whole Calvin klein campaign, it sounds fabulous.
