F/W 06.07 Ad Campaigns

So this is Elise C. and Axel for Cesare Paciotti? :flower: I didn't recognize her at first glance!

Modelhommes

Wow, Elise looks great for CP!

Oh, and I read a press release earlier talking about the LV campaign; it listed the models and the list did not include Stella Tennant or Malgosia Bela, so I'm fairly sure those two are not in the campaign.

Only one out of the three we've seen of her seven campaigns is any good? :ninja: I know Kate's a legend, but how can she stay on top if all her campaigns look like that? Yikes!

I think LV is fine and CK is great, so no problems for any of them except Dior, where the last one is ugly, yes, but we don't know if it's one of the print ads yet...

The Dolce & Gabbana campaign reminds me of the Haute Couture s/s 2005 story Meisel did for Vogue Italia. The hair and make up realy look alike

Okay that recent Dior ad is just absolutely horrendous! I mean Kate looks, punched? Terrified? Distorted?

About the Dior ad... it's awful! It doesn't fit the theme and vibe of the collection at all... and what's up with that raised eyebrow thingy Kate does? We've seen two Dior ads and she does it in both  And if they want a clean, young, natural look then they should use Tiiu or Tanya... they are the skin queens as far as I'm concerned... not Kate.

I have to agree, and most of the bad ads are thanks to a certain Kate Moss.

Seriously... Kate is OVERexposed... I'm kind of sick of her in ads right now. It's good for her that hs egot so much work after her thingy, but come on already... there's so many fish in the sea, why only Kate?

Because all of these houses are corporate and Kate has/had the public's attention at the moment. They figure they'll get more notice with Kate. She is too all over the place right now though. She and/or her agent should be tighter with the acceptance of campaigns, but then again money talks.

Too bad Dior and LV with Kate are awful.

that dior ad is awful...i like kate and everything but, im getting SO bored of her, there are so many other models to pick from, why kate all the time?

True, but what good is a familiar face when it looks horrible... that's negative for both parties. If brands want a familiar face then they could as well use Gisele, Naomi, Linda, whoever. And I don't think it adds to the credibilty of the brand Kate advertises when you see her wearing Dior on one billboard and 10 metres further she's in LV.

^^ True. A lot of people fault Natalia Vodianova for her exclusive contract with Calvin Klein. But there's something to be said for the fact that when a customer sees an ad (non-cosmetic) with Natalia in it, he/she knows at once it is for Calvin Klein. Not that Kate Moss, or anyone, should necessarily only appear in one company's ads. But there is such a thing as overexposure. And Kate Moss is very overexposed right now, so much so that any positive response a company might get visavis her "recognition factor" is largely diluted by the backlash caused by her omnipresence.

I certainly agree with you but you shouldn't forget that we look different to ad campaigns then the major part of the potential LV and Dior customers. Kate is absolutely overexposed but when people see her as a style icon, they want to have the same bag or whatever Kate is promoting in her ads. Also, you shouldn't forget both Dior and LV are LVMH, so for LVMH it probably makes sense (not for me:ninja:)

'Tis true.

At the same time, however, for the casual browser of ads/fashion magazine - the one who hasn't been researching them as soon as they come out, doesn't really remember previous seasons and sure doesn't recognize models, the overexposure will seem smaller. (Moss's overexposure is so large that I think you'd have to be living under a rock not to notce she was everywhere, of course :))

The Dior ads are pretty awful. The red dress one actually is ok, not wonderful, but passable.
I'm not so sure how terrible the Kate Moss LV ad is however. Really, it's fake and kitch and tacky in a way, but I think it works. What bothers me more is the fact that it's exactly the same expression we've always seen from her. But if you take it how of the "Kate Moss is overexposed and boring" context, it works.

glad to see Eva back to her old sexy self!! Exte is also great. Seems all the vuitton ads with models carrying their bags arent that good
