F/W 06.07 Ad Campaigns

Very true. At the same time, however, I think that some agencies kind of create top models, instead of scouting girls that already look like super stars, where as other agencies couldn't afford to do that.

I think that's a great point you make there. It totally goes hand in hand with the current tendency in models. Awkward, unconvential and unique... whereas ten years ago it was the sexbomb superwoman that got all the campaigns. Somehow the shopping world has got fed up with the superstar look-a-likes and wants something to look at that is unique... just as the clothes they'd like to wear. Still that does not explain Tiiu Kuik never being so big as her potential can allow her.

AGAIN???!!! I'm quite sick of her after all these years CK with Natalia.
well personally, i couldnt be happier. a part of me wishes she werent under exclusive contract and would do other things, but on the flip side, she does calvin klein so well and even those who have done the secondary lines in the past few years (Gemma for CK, Doutzen, etc) haven't looked nearly as good in my opinion even though I like both of those girls.

i prefer hye over du juan any day

and please not julia for hugo boss.. too boring
luca was much better

Solange Wilvert is not doing Fendi Angella Lindvall is!, and i prefer Ali T over Du Juan or Hye Park

^I know Angela has it for this season, but I'm talking about FW06! :D

Unless you know she's repeating? :flower:

ETA: n/m, Solange is not doing Fendi...is Angela doing a repeat then?

It's getting to a point where a model dosen't even have to be good to get alot of campaigns and runways...she just needs to be with a top agency :ninja:

I agree with you on that one. It's like the models that do good in print are dull on the runway and the ones good on the runway are dull on print. Also the actors taking modeling job thing is getting tiring and I for one agreeing with everyone else on that one.

Yea Gisele was ok, but i really liked the ones with Karen Elson and some other chic. They were fighting and stuff and it was really cool

She doesn't have a thread here on TFS, but Marianna Romanelli is part of the FW06 Trussardi campaign :flower:

ETA: She's with 1 Model Management

You can have differences, you dont need the same type of "model" or "actress" to appear in every single campaign, it loses its flavour and constitutes a narrow array of options..

I dont think you get my point. At first i said I dont get the appeal of Du Juan and her compatibility with the likes of LV and YSL so some people said its probably because the companies want to appeal to China. The fact remains that if this is a marketing ploy it would not work as well. More asians (Chinese) would buy LV or YSL is it were a classic model or an actress representing it. This isn't my personal opinion but its the truth as of right now in Asia. And pride  most Chinese who can afford LV YSL and such dont have that much nationalistic pride as far as i know. Besides for marketing only, wouldnt a Chinese actress > Chinese model (that is virtually unknown)

I totally agree with you. When you look to Japan, it are the Western models who are wanted, not Asian models. Japanese people (and maybe the same counts for Chinese people) want to look like western people. They see (some) western people as their role models (only in fashion, don't get me wrong). But I think this whole Du Juan thing is getting a bit offtopic. She'll be in the ads and we'll have to accept it. Let's in the meanwhile just keep talking about other ads. I mean, there's more than just LV and YSL.

I don' t really understand what the fuss is about. Du juan is a new face who has gotten noticed for her beauty and freshness. These designers have chosen her becuase they believe she'll sell their clothes. She is not meant to appeal to a certain group of people or a certain race for that matter.

Any news on Balenciaga yet??

Querelle won't be doing Kenzo, but is doing Dell Acqua next week with Eva Herzigova (so I heard).
