F/W 06.07 Ad Campaigns

What's with all these naked women? And Du Juan seems to be the only non-white model in this slew of ads..... I guess I'm not much of an ad person anyway.

Hated Dolce and Gabanna at first, but I love them now. I think I liked last season better but I am really a fan of their clothes! The ads are cool!

Well, every season isn't there's always only one non-white model who figures prominently in ad campaigns?

Kate Moss Comes Home to Calvin Klein Jeans
By Marc Karimzadeh

NEW YORK — Calvin Klein Jeans and Kate Moss have picked up almost where they left off.

In the company's fall ad campaign, the black-and-white photos of Moss and actor Jamie Dornan are slightly reminiscent of the Nineties images of Moss and Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg, which triggered Moss' career and contributed to her iconic fashion status. The latest campaign just happens to be 14 years later.

"With Kate Moss, we wanted to capture what we had done before: two strong icons together again," said Fabien Baron, creative director of the campaign, in an exclusive preview of the images. "She's very sensual, and it's very much about her character, her personality and what she is about."

Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot the ads at the Jack Studios here in April, and the art direction gives the ads a raw feel: Each image is presented like a visual from a contact sheet, replete with China marker selections. "It's almost like a work in progress," Baron said.

Moss is shown coupling her jeans with a cableknit cardigan, a jacket or topless with her arms covering her breasts. In one picture, she is wrapped around a topless Dornan, with a part of her crocheted sweater covering his right shoulder. "Sex is always something that is part of the Calvin Klein company," Baron said. "These ads are sexy, I don't think they're sexual. Calvin Klein is the ultimate image of American sexiness, and this campaign represents that."

Moss last starred in a Calvin Klein Jeans campaign in 1999. "Apart from the fact she has become a bigger icon, I found her to be very much what she was back then," Baron said.

The ads will break in August issues and run through December. They will be placed in magazines such as Vogue, In Style, Jane, Glamour, Lucky, Teen Vogue, GQ, Maxim, Out and Rolling Stone. In addition, there will be cover gatefolds in the August issues of W and Interview, and in September Vanity Fair, Nylon and Details. The ads also will grace billboards on the corner of Houston and Lafayette Streets here, and Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, as well as on taxi roofs and posters around New York.

^^^I like the third pic of Kate behind the guy but to be honest I'm tired of seeing her this season.

:woot: Wow so many great ads revealed in the past few days…Thank you everyone! :flower: And much love to Faith and all the list compilers...VERY helpful!
I agree, this seems like an awesome season for ads (even more so since the collections themselves weren’t that good, imho).

actually i wanna say onemore thing ..those dolce and gabbana ads bring me something i cannot decribe ...but certainly a kind of good feeling, i feel very motivated looking at them....i just dunno why
Haha I know what you mean! Although slightly morbid, I get a good feeling too...Well probably cuz they feature a bunch of my favorite models. I think the concept is slightly too literal but very well executed. Dolce never disappoints with their ads!

I'm happy to say Du Juan has proven all my doubts wrong. She looks amazing in LV/Cavalli!
And I love those Kate CK ads. She's definitely overexposed now, but she's perfect in these images. Haha and you're right Faith, I didn't even notice that was Jamie at first.

#2362 - And thank you for that Gucci scan polka_dot! I’m using this as my wallpaper... This Nicolas guy is ! *runs off to Google him*

Crea - :flower: I think part of the appeal for the Dolce ads (To me, at least) is also due to the historical value injected into them. The numerous glimpses into the past (Roman era, Marie Antoinette, etc.), not just in terms of fashion but also events, are very inspiring and enlightening.

Loveeeed , the calvin klein campaing very niceee:heart:

The CK Jeans ads are nice but any image I now see of Kate is just blahhh...to me because she is so overexposed, and she has lost that special spark she had in her early work. I like Du for Cavalli but I can't wait to see Daria; I'm not absolutely loving Dolce, the whole period/soldier thing I just associate with Balenciaga, and everyone else seems to be copying. My favorite shots so far have definitely come from LV; I love the artistic eye in the ads, the use of positive and negative space is brilliant.

A Galaxy of Brits for Burberry's 150th
By Samantha Conti
LONDON — Burberry has gone for another all-star cast of Brits — including Kate Moss — for its fall ads, marking the firm's 150th anniversary.

i find this interesting because Gemma's supposed to be in the ads but she ain't British....she might have British heritage (i dunno i'm guessing) but she's technically aussie....

Well, I've heard reports of Kate, Gemma, Stella Tennant, and Tayla Collins. So I'm assuming Kate and Stella are definitely in it; does anyone know if Tayla is British? Then with Gemma, she was pictured in all these Anglo-mania issues; I remember her in Vogue with Lily Cole and Lily Donaldson. So maybe since Australians were originally brits, it doesn't matter?

^From the article itself, it certainly doesn't sound like they would make an exception just because Gemma is Gemma or because Aussies were originally Brits, but you never know!

I'm excited to see this "Brit-Galaxy," though, that's for sure! :buzz:

fleur, Gabriella Calthorpe is British.

Tayla Collins won't be in the Burberry ads. I'm very sure about that. ;)
