I've seen Lais in person a few times; her body is amazing. I'm not surprised at all that she's doing Victoria Secret

Oh gosh that's sad, I think she's really cute. Prada really is career suicide now, Valerija K better be careful.

Yeah it is, after Ymre it looks like anyone could get in and after the campaign getting dumped (like Kendra Spears)

Prada is no career suidide. It's just a sign for how bad Prada casting is, again. If you cast a good girl for a major campaign, she'll do well for like 4-5 years. If you cast a bland girl (like Katlin, Katrin, Kendra or Rasa) she might do well the runway and maybe print season afterwards but will dissapear quite quickly cause she's only being booked due to her current reputation which only lasts 6 months, say until the next campaign with another girl appears. That's called overhype...

Rasa, Kendra, Giedre, Ymre, Julia H, Katrin didn't really amount to much, even Prada openers like Adina Forsisz and Natalia Chabeneko didn't become supermodels like they were predicted to be.

Then again Toni, Sigrid, Nimue and Anna de Rijk all did well afterwards but they would have done well regardless, which I guess is your point Cologne Rocks. I wonder if Valerija Keleva will do well after this season's prada campaign.

Yeah, that's what i mean. I'm certain that Valerija will not dissapear so quickly, she has very much A class work at the moment but does still not suffer on overexpose + Prada won't be her only Meisel campaign this season.

^That still doesn't mean anything. Look at the past at how many models had A-list campaigns and or were Meisel darlings for while.

I think the problem with Prada "girls" right now is Miuccia (and the people who work with her) cast too many people and don't really focus on them: one model opens S/S 09 show (Ymre) and then she gets the campaign, another one closes it (Sigrid) and she also becomes part of that campaign, which at the same time is starred by other six models. Next season only Ymre and Anna are cast for F/W 09 campaign (what an awful campaign, by the way) with other three models (one of them opened and closed the show, Katlin). Next season neither the model who opens the show (Wixson) nor the one who closes it (Kosushkina) get the campaign, which is starred by a girl who only had an outfit at the show (Rasha). Rasha, despite of getting the campaign last season, is relegated to a second place when she only has a single outfit at F/W10 show, and not to talk about Ymre, who isn't even part of the casting... For F/W 10 a girl opens and closes the show (Samantha) but the campaign has nothing to do with her, and a model who didn't even walk the runway gets it (Daria). Angela didn't walk the runway either but she was a Prada girl a while ago.

It's distracting and definitely it's not the same as focusing on a model for a long while.

It definitly is confusing but I feel Prada has no obligation to models, neither does Karl for Freja but he uses her because he likes her and I feel he is loyal to models (if not obsessive). Most brands don't have an obligation to build a model's career, they can use her for a campaign because she fits and move on when she doesn't. I forgot all about Kate K and Katlin (which I think says everything) however I'm curious if being exclusively related to Prada is damaging to a model...there's been so many Prada casualties but like cologne rocks says it's not neccessarily down to prada but more overhype and poor management. For me a Prada campaign/casting just isn't interesting anymore, if 5-10 girls do it every season it doesn't hold the same prestige as it did when models like Sasha, Elise, Snejana and Daria were in the campaigns years ago.

Of course nobody has the obligation of building model careers, that's all it needed! What I meant is "Prada girls" are not as important as they used to because there are too many. Besides Miuccia tries to create the next best thing each season (she loves doing that) but at the end she doesn't really focus on them, so she fails.

That's totally the point, I couldn't agree more.

It's getting kind of off-topic here... Nobody has any obligation because model careers are irrelevant to a fashion designer. As carmen_kass says, they are chosen because their look fits the season. People get so worked up on Prada and Miuccia, I highly doubt she has any intention with her models whatsoever like people on the internet are constantly implying.

Even if she only had one outfit, Rasa was the only completely new girl to debut as an exclusive to Prada in Milan that season. She had been working with Miuccia all week.

(That and well she wasn't the first pick for the campaign anyway)

Marina Pérez should get a Prada campaign, it's almost impossible but I wish it hapenned. Lanvin campaign should have been for her too. ^_^

I can't believe how underrated she is...

I love Marina to, to me she's as fierce as Maria Carla and I wish she'd get the same attention!
