Fashion Tragedies / Damage Control

WOW - I hope you disowned that beotch lol.
I have another. Not me a but a friend. She was wearing BRAND NEW white Tsubi/Ksubi jeans. Was sitting in class and her monthly "friend" decided to show up... it was bad... she had to leave... and throw out the Tsubis :(

That was a big fear of mine in high school after seeing that happen to 2 girls.

My fashion nightmare involved a new Jil Sander top that has spaghetti straps. I would wear it without nothing underneath because it gave good coverage and would have looked horrible if I wore even a strapless bra with it. I was in a store and I was reaching out for something, and then I heard a rip: One of the straps ripped away from the rest of my top. Luckily I was able to hold up that part of my top by putting my purse on my shoulder and holding it against my top. I have no idea why the strap ripped because the strap wasn't tight on me or anything.

And the more recent incident was when I was rushing out the door to work with my Balenciaga purse and then I felt something hitting my leg. I looked down and saw that the shoulder strap was hitting my leg because the rivet that secured it to the purse had somehow broke. Have to send it in to the Balenciaga people and they will probably fix it but it still sucks.

^^ Yes, yes I did disown her

^ Cannae believe you posted about a strap breaking! That's one of the things that happened in my disaterous day today.

Leaving the house for the bus I felt good, then when the bus came, oh my god, it was a single decker with like sixty people on it - thirty sitting, thirty standing.
It was a nightmare. I was creased and crushed against at least seven billion other people and it was awful.
Then when I got to college I was walking down the corridor and one end of the strap of my bag broke away from the bag.
Though I was expecting it to happen soon (seeing as I do carry at least nine tonnes of junk in there) but I was not a lapin joyous.
That bag weighed SO much, having to carry it around by it's short handles for the rest of the day after unsuccessfully trying to sellotape it back together..
And since I bought new boots it was even heavier.
My hands = dead
My arms = strongest man in the world

Oh god, and then this guy I had to sit next to on the bus on the way home had to step over it and it was funny.
It's this like big leather weekender I use for my college bag you see. We call it my "cow" or my "dog" because of it's material/size.
Oh and then I was going down the bus stairs and I sort of fell slightly and was like "OH GOD!" in this high pitched voice and this guy stood at the bottom was like "...okay."
I was laughing all the way home about that
AND we're getting into the realm of "How was your day?"

Garment Problem

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me while travelling, I had packed a dress I loved quite carefully, but when I took it out of my luggage I noticed the ribbon like border which is wrapped around the dress and sewn to it, got ruined and a section creased or something and turned white, I tried to scrub it to see if I could remove it, but it's not a stain, any suggestions how I can fix the problem, I love the dress!!

Maybe you could post a photo? Then it would be easier to immagine :flower:

I have seen velvet ribbon turn white at a crease ... I think it usually happens with lighter colors, and I'm not sure why  But I'm not sure it's a bad thing ... it gives a vintage look. Life is full of imperfection--it's important to see the beauty in it :flower: It's good practice for seeing the beauty in others, not to mention oneself ;)

I'm chubby and clothes that "fit" me I don't care for usually so there is always disasters. I usually only have one pair of jeans that fit correctly and I wear them to death til the crotch area develops a hole. At one point I was losing weight so shirts fit in the chest but not in the gut so buttons constantly pop there.

Though i pay very little for my ' vintage ' clothes it's awful when something gets destroyed as you can't replace it, unless you happen to come across another one that is exactly the same (never happened).

that's a very nice sentiment...
:p...:flower:

i lost a glove a year or so ago...
so i got another pair of exactly the same ones because they were so pretty and so warm at the same time, which is hard to find....
this year i lost one of the new gloves...
:(
but i am a pack rat and i had saved the original glove in my glove box...
* could it be that the two misfit gloves would make a new pair?!
YES!!!...
it's a MIRACLE...but the two single gloves are one left and one right so now i still have a pair of gloves!!!..

YAY!!..

..
tragedy averted...

moral of the story- it pays to be a pack rat!!...:innocent:...

:p

was cleaning up...using bleach...
got bleach spots on a grey isabel marant top...
...

just dyed it black...
:ninja:...

it's all one colour now...
but it shrank a bit...:(
luckily...
her stuff is so oversized, i don't know if anyone can tell that it shrank!...

sooo....i've been wearing these gloves as a pair and it took me until just last month or so to notice that one of them is trimmed in leather piping and the other in nylon...
it's a very minor and subtle difference- and the cuff is usually up under my sleeve- which is probably why i never noticed...
but imagine my shock!!!

:o......^_^...

today i had to glue - YES GLUE - my comme des garcons moto boots...
turns out that the faux leather and hard plastic they are made of - while waterproof...are not cold proof...!!!
:hardhead:
so the hard plastic bits have started to crack and almost pop off...
today i glued them down with rubber cement...
i hope it will hold in all the miserable slush and snow that is covering the streets these days...
......:ninja:...

i don't know what i will do if these boots fall apart...
they are pretty irreplaceable and have totally become a major personal style statement for me...
...

oh dear...

I suffering that right now, I re-discover a pair of huge platforms sneakers I've kept apart, and I wore them very happy the other day, and they started desintegrating while I was walking. when I got home, they had the platform already destroyed, and even though I know it is impossible to fix, I refuse to get rid of them!

maybe you can find something similar someday lucille!...
:flower:...

i have found that if i wait long enough...eventually someone will do something similar to something that i lost or wish i had bought, etc...
it can take a long time...but eventually, if i am patient...i can find something like it again...
^_^...

cooking is dangerous for clothing...
i should really wear an apron...
i need to find a cute one...
i just hate to spend the money on a good one cause i know i will never wear it out of the house...
......

but i guess if it protects my fave clothes, it would be well worth the $$$
i want/need one that looks like a proper pinafore...
not just around the waist-
cause i always splash things on my tops!!!...

so- i ruined another top last weekend making salad dressing...
got olive oil splatters on an olive coloured t-shirt...
i've washed it twice now...but the oil stains wont come out!
i'm afraid the top is toast...
*sigh*...

:(...

^ have you checked places like william sonoma for your apron? i know at the store by my place at least, that they are having a big sale right now and their stuff is good quality so you should be able to keep it for years.

softgrey how about making it sort of painter top like "painter jean" from lang ?
or like the splash series from dries.

it can't hurt to try...
i wonder...
what colours would look good with the olive...?
maybe it should be about 3 colours...
i think navy would be good...and then maybe some lighter colours...
hmm...i am going to have to play around and do some colour tests...
wow- this could be a fun project, actually!...
thanks runner!!!...
:woot:......:p...
