fix damaged jeans

i have massive holes in some knees of some of my jeans. what i do is
a. get a range of different sized (and perhaps colours) safety pins and pin it together
B. sew it together really rough
c. make more holes
d. put a patch over it

YES! more holes, patches, splatter paint, make it look purposeful and high end :-)

so- i just repaired a vintage string of small aqua blue crystal beads that was gifted to me...
hope it holds!
the beads are just gorgeous~

sadly- i have had a small tragedy...
it's not a fashion one...
it's a small dish purchased in tokyo at the nezu museum...
i bought a set of two and one of them fell and broke in pieces...
...
i have them all and will try to glue it back together...
but it's really too many pieces (six)...it won't work well...
i can tell...


so sad...
i miss that little bunny...
it was one of my fave things...
and i used it all the time..
which is how it broke...
*sigh*...

i also dropped and broke an indigo/white japanese bowl i got here...
it was the perfect size for holding and eating with chopsticks...
but i guess it was slippery...
i can probably fix that one...

also- both of my wooden japanese bowls have been damaged...
...

^ I'm glad it was in the course of using and enjoying it that it broke ... at least you weren't saving it for 'best' and meanwhile the cat swept it off the shelf!

so- i wore my jean charles pony hair, zebra stripe flats and the leather sole started to separate on the way to my appt...
on the way back home, the other foot also started...
...

that is bad enough, but the sole looks like it was stitched...
it's not...it was just a fake out...
it's just glued~~!!!
...

anyway-
shouldn't be too hard to fix...
supposedly cobblers use barge glue- industrial strength rubber cement...
i got some and will have a go...

it's just ridiculous cause i can count the times i've worn them on one hand!!

barge glue is sticky, runny, tacky and messy...
but, boy does that stuff work~!

re: the ongoing saga of my melissa platforms...
the glue i used didn't hold after all...
but then i suddenly had a realization...
i do NOT need that strap at the back of the sandals at all...
and since they are just rubber...
i took a scissor and neatly cut off the strap just now...

voila!...

*just cannot believe i didn't think of it sooner...

tore the hem on my lace dress...
was able to sew it up and repair the lace with no trace of damage~!

My travel cosmetics bag is suede (which I know is impractical, but it is suede non the less!) and on my way home a 1000 ml bottle of liquid soap exploded in my bag... Anyone have any bright ideas as to how to clean it? Wait for it to dry and try to brush it off?

When my suede shoes got stained I ended up throwing them in the washing machine. The stains were gone and the shoes looked better compared to when I tried to hand clean them.

^I think I am going to try that. You'd imagine that soap would dissolve easily in the washing machine... At least I think that is how soap works Thank you

what kind of suede shoe did you put in your washing machine? sneakers?

I sank into the mud a few months ago while wearing my favorite suede pumps ... just picked them up from the cobbler & they did an amazing job, look like new. I'd have been better off entrusting those to the dogs to clean up than my washing machine tho Cherry (no longer with us) once feasted on a suede shoe rosette ...

They were desert boots.

eizhowa, good luck! I think soap should dissolve, mine had ink in them (I gave them a milk bath first, to draw out most of it) so I didn't have much to lose since they were pretty messed up.

^ No That was when she was a puppy, and she lived to an advanced age. I also have a wicker chair that shows evidence of her toothwork ... after I'd had it restored, too. A couple of my dogs have had extremely good taste in the things they ate

Yes, I think so. Not sure how well the texture will recover from being wet, but I believe it's best to dry leather slowly, away from heat ...

i wore a very $$ and very beautiful and rare Lanvin dragonfly brooch to the park one day...
got sad seeing it in the box, so i decided that it should be worn in a more carefree way...

when i got home...
took off my jacket...brooch was gone!!!
.........
very sad...

few weeks later i went to wear a pr of boots that were under my coat rack...
guess what i found?
...

IN THE BOOT~!!!

...

happy ending...woo woo~!!
