Ford Supermodel of the World 2005

now

note that ford models sponsored that pageant. for years they have been the 'moral' voice in fashion.

obvs the entry age for models is now 13-18. many models now start at 14-17.

to think that a girl who wants to start at 20 is too old.!!
that age thing has really come down over the last decade.
its not going to change so get used to seeing 13-14-15 year olds more & more

I just read on a newspaper that Camilla misses playing with her barbie dolls. What kind of world is this where the winner of a modelling contest hasn't even gone through her childhood yet? :(

That's so sad

I really think that the runner up (Otilia) is going to be very successful! She is on gogopilgrim's website: www.theones2watch.com and has some gorgeous pictures.

I thought so too. You always hear about the winners but it's got to be so hard for the ones who come to the castings with such high hopes. For some it's the one chance they are ever going to get to better their lives.

Just a thought... I wish there was a way to go back and see where all the former winners are now and who made it to the top and who faded back into their former lives. I do know one girl named Asta B who we fell in love with when Ali and I were in NY the winter of 2003. She was sent back home after the F/W 2003 shows and we haven't heard from her since. I think she won in 2001. She was a sweetheart.

Asta is definitely still around. She was in a clothes editorial in my Jan UK Elle. She's with Models 1 there so she might just be generally in Europe building her book. I didn't think her look was that strong to begin with but her personality is bubbly so I guess that counts for something.

Oh my goodness, those legs! She is incredibly beautiful

She's thinner than I had in mind! But I think she did a good job, although she looks a little like she's paralyzed. She can stay! :D

She totally looks stunned on the runway...and in some of her pictures too IMO. My friend Anna started modelling when she was 13, when she hit 15 her body changed, and was sent into this crazy emotional rollercoaster. It's not that I'm denying that 13 year olds will continue to model here, and some do a very good job of it. But I wouldn't let my kid start at such a young age, your so impressionable at 13 (17 year olds are still impressionable) and to have the mantra of "stay a 33-24-33" is not something that I feel is healthy.
