Gap Design Editions

I wonder if it's limited to the US or if they are going to include the larger canadian Gap's as well. Either way I suppose I could go to Toronto or perhaps the one in Troy, MI will carry it.....these seem so much better than the collection from Roland Mouret....

Well, they'll be carried in Canada for sure, as the below post says. I'm 100% positive that the Bloor St. flagship will have the stuff. It's so close to work, and i just know I'd pick up some of this in a heartbeat! Let me know if you want anything, Meg.

thanks Pastry I will for sure. I'll have to see if the Gap at Somerset Collection will carry it! I hope so!

I'll find out tomorrow, which Gaps here will carry the stuff.

I hope the gap makes basics cool again.:P
Me too. I really like the GAP and it makes me sad that they're in so much trouble:cry: I hope they do make the basic cool again, too. I'm such a basics person, not in the least bit fussy. I'd shop exclusively at GAP, it's just that the men's wear is not fitted that great. I'd love for them to become a bit more urban, not so much trendier, but just sleeker, simpler, slimer....I'd love it if GAP made some really nice slim/ skinny jeans, pants, and trousers...yum.

The problem I have with GAP is that the clothes looks really great in ads, (like the Jeans collection), but when I try them on, they just don't look half as good as they do in the ads. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE GAP ads, they're my favorite ads that are ever on TV.

^oh, totally...

when I talk about the clothes, I'm talking about the women's line. I am implying, though, that the same efforts should be put towards the men's side of the store. Which is lagging behind...

As you've mentioned, slimmer cuts and better fit are all things I'd love to see. And what wouldn't I do for a men's version of the crinkled trenchcoat that women got to enjoy this season!

And all that, might I add, can happily exist as an addition not as the focus of their menswear.
I think what really attracts me to the brand, is its neutrality. It's so untouched. No hipsters, fashionistas (well, soon to be), no nonsense like that. I love that..and if the gap tries to create a clean image, they'd better control it VERY carefully.

Damn it, Gap, GET WITH THE PROGRAM! YOU NEED A COMPLETE OVERHAUL!!!

I like the comment on neutrality. I totally agree about that. I agree that the ad's are VERY well styled. It's the same for women as well. Of course that trench looks great on carmen....on me, not so much. that said, i always see great pieces at the Gap and I enjoy it.

Inquired with both the GAPs today. One of them didn't know what the heck I was talking about. The other said they were receiving a shipment of "just white shirts" on that day. Little does she know they're not very "just. She also manetioned a print ad..I'm guessing that's how she thought I knew about this.

Anyways, it's kind of a shame that people's don't know about this, but more for us.

Yes please to the Rodarte in post #7... too bad Gap doesn't ship internationally.. :(

When is it going to be available exactly?

I found it a great idea. Cool basics...with design. Brilliant!
But so far it just sounded like one if their silent publicity - when you call the stores they don't know what you are talking about. remember the Roland Mouret for GAP collection? It was quiet. I hope that they do something with their campaign!

see the first page Caff .. it said 16th or 17th of April :flower:

well, why dont you have one of your friend buy whatever you need from the store and ship it to you?

True.. I just hate to bother others with that sort of thing...if I got too used to it..it could become a really bad bad habit..

i wonder if it will be in montreal . . . i'd love to pick up one of the shirts. i have a thing for white blouses. even though i only one one myself.

this looks nice, i wonder why there wasnt better PR surrounding this?

I hope Somerset will have it too! I don't have a car so I can't drive 4 hrs to Toronto for the collection. And if i asked my dad to drive me, he'd think i'm nuts going to Toronto for a stupid white shirt! But I want to Doo-ri shirt so BAD!

very curious to see how rodarte does basics!

..i hope this goes well for gap (it looks like it should!) :flower:

^^ this should be at somerset. wasn't the RED collection only availabe at flagship locations? and i am pretty sure they carried that at somerset..

Of the three examples, I think I like the Rodarte example the best. I am in Southern California, and hope it comes to one of the OC gaps (South Coast Plaza, I'm thinking).
