Givenchy S/S 2017 by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

The location shots are the best thing M&M have produced in...maybe 5 years? Both are great. Studio shots look like La Perla x Baron fare, nothing interesting.

Prada for the outdoors, Max Mara for the studio.

Why even bother doing studio shots when you have such an amazing location? They should have sticked to the outdoor shots. They're beyond! And the colors match pretty well all together.
Any idea where it is?

I think they were shot in LA. Vittoria and Faretta both post pics about being in Santa Monica and of course with no eyebrows:)

I love the location shots. Carine did a wonderful job in terms of styling.
The same cannot be said about the boring studio shots....

While the location feels fresh, the juxtaposition of that with the studio shots makes the whole thing look boring.

I'm tired of M&M. They should have one or two off seasons from high fashion.

the studio shots feel like a completely separate thing. Irina looks gorgeous, but I dont see how their shots relate to the location images.

I agree, Lola! But how can they when Tisci, Tonchi, Anna and Armani keep them on speed dial? They're in a rut, but the supply must run dry first then you'll see how quickly they'll rejuvenate. I'm actually quite amazed that Anna with her so called eye for photography cannot see that she's being hoodwinked with cover edits detailing 10 different settings, each one shoddily executed. Their studio portraits are lately so cold and mannequin-like, when it always used to ooze glamour and energy. Then there's this incessant insistence on arty location shoots which always falls short in one way or the other. And what's more, lesser established photographers does it better. I think they're better off 'referencing' the work of other greats, their own voice is simply not distinct enough.

I'm going to agree with everyone here, the desert shots are stunning. While the studio shots are not bad - by themselves - they really have no place next to those otherwordly location shots.

Mert and Marcus must've done SOMETHING right with those studio shots because I can actually tolerate Mariacarla Boscono for once. She looks fantastic, as does Irina Shayk and Lea T. While I'm also loving Vittoria Ceretti at the moment, I much prefer the studio shots and I'm secretly hoping there will be even more.

I like the outdoor shots too. Sort of like taken on Mars

Charming outdoor shots and mediocre indoor ones. Seems like Riccardo isn't trying to avoid being compared to Prada because the hairstyle for the outdoor shots is reminiscent of the one Guido did for F/W 15.16 and the science fiction vibe is also familiar. Overall cool campaign, however not cool enough to restore Givenchy's lost appeal.

What a step up from last season's complete mess. The outdoor shots are also gorgeous.

I actually think these are beautiful pictures. I saw the video on IG and is really cool. Way better than many previous seasons.
