Haider Ackermann Mens S/S 2014 Paris

i adore that it's perfectly aligned with his womenswear. he could show this with the women in fact. i kind of miss those days, actually.

I find it utterly boring because it looks exactly like his womenswear. I don't see anything new here, it's so expected. I'm not feeling this at all :ermm:

perfect transition from his womenswear. i'm not sure i'd date a guy wearing most of these outfits (except 5&6 in post #5, i really love those), but it's so aesthetically pleasing i'm loving it

Not only he could show this with womenswear but women could easily wear these looks as well. I see Tilda Swinton in each one of these outfits.

His aesthetic is so perfect and elegant, what's not to like ?! Of course I would've loved to see something a but different from womenswear, a bit of innovation but all this works so well. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. The amazing fabric, the colors, the prints... It's rich and decadent like a modern Byzance prince yet it's always right, it's always elegant and contemporary. Besides I'm huge fan of new silhouettes and when designers play with proportions, Haider does it with such maestria it's amazing. Never ever ill fitting or unflattering, it may not work on everybody but here you just want it all. At the end of the day I'm thrilled that he stays true to himself because he's so unique.

Utterly boring...?

I'm glad there are varying tastes and it's a great thing not everyone digs the same style, but even if this were not your taste and style, it's still impressive. I do adore that Haider is such a thoughtful designer, and as much of a strong signature as he has created for his designs, it's also very generous: I can see men of all ages, and body sizes looking great in his pieces. Maybe not a total look is ideal for everyone, but I would want to wear those jackets and pants easily. And every piece looks so impeccably, immaculately designed and constructed-- as well as blending into a men's existing wardrobe. Muiccia seems to have had the same idea with her recent offering, but failed so miserably because the same look may be had at your local thrift store. You can't get this look at your local thrift store...

The retro, romantic culturally-rich vibe via Romeo Gigli of his silhouette and aesthetic can easily be converted to a sharp, minimalist one; it just depends on the wearer. And I love that he trusts and has confidence in his customer, and isn't designing for a fashion victim.

These are all timeless, modern covetable pieces-- for me, anyways.

i could see this on a prince in saudi arabia, i could see it on a musician/rapper and i can see this on a pedestrian in Paris or NY. it just works so well with men of today

He owns my heart. Even though everytime I open his threads I know what to expect, I still always find his work so beautiful. There is always harmony and richness - from the colors to the sumptuous fabrics. I always want to be around the woman he creates for his shows - she always seems secure, mysterious, and genteel. Now he's created her contemporary and I want to be him, or at least own all these trousers :D

I agree. The clothes itself are beautiful, but it's exactly what I thought it would be when I read he was doing a menswear collection. It is basically his womenswear slightly adapted to a more manly silhouette. I hope he thinks a little bit more outside the box next time.

Well, I am a huge fan of his womenswear. And unlike many others I never considered it to be androgynous or somewhat masculine. The fluidity, the poesy, the silhouettes, his choice of colors and fabrics, it's completely feminine to me. And to me it just doesn't work as menswear. (And like mistress_f mentioned, I think I would also not want to date a guy who dresses like this) And it's not that I'm not open-minded when it comes to unisex/genderless/cross-gender dressing, I just find that this takes away from the woman and the story he created around her in his womenswear collections. There's this supposedly strong, warrior-like but romantic and loving woman who now suddenly has a male equivalent right there in front of her? It's kind of odd to me :p And I find it boring because when I opened the thread I knew exactly what this would look like, that's kind of disappointing because it doesn't happen with his womenswear. Each new collection is a continuation of the last one, but it's never a rehash of it.

i would want every piece from this collection, especially that blie trench coat. The color combination just shout out luxury, love this!

too johnny depp for me

I could see this in Dancing with the Stars, on a tv host of an Italian Sunday program, on a Russian dealer when meeting up the bosses, on a 54 year-old gambling in Atlantic City. Usually for me, I want to hear the Romeo Gigli man, guys dressed like this often make me wish I was deaf.

I do think the tucking is something worth noting, a bit overplayed but if it wasn't for it..

That's EXACTLY what I expected when I found out he'd be doing menswear. It's quite beautiful, the fabrics look wonderful but I'd never buy any of that as it's far too different from my style (and I'd be drowned in it  )
