^^edie i agree with you from what i've seen of you in WAYWT, haha. i always have mixed feelings about stuff like that... i always WANT to be able to wear floaty floral things or whatever but it just... doesn't work... looks like i'm playing dress-up in someone elses clothes. but i think these vary though!

i know i couldn't pull off the more flowy ones but i think some of the more structured or tweedy/menswear-ish ones could work... maybe it's just a matter of finding the right cut/fabric that suits you?? i keep harping on the rag and bone show there, but i think you could do something like that!

i think the key is to find a well-fitting pair. some cuts seem to add 'excess baggage' at the hips...i'm predisposed towards the kind that flow out at the hip but narrow down from thigh area on so i don't look like i'm hiding saddlebags

personally i welcome the new baggier trend; it's a nice refreshing trend from seeing strangers' butts in leggings on the street

I love harem pants, but am yet to find a pair that dont work against my bodyshape and make me look incredibly boyish. Sigh

i have the cotton harem pant from american apparel and they are so comfortable, but i have yet to be brave and attempt to wear them outside the house. im not sure how to work these so they dont look ridiculous. i do love a simple leotard underneath with a belt or a super tight fitted top with these pants.... if i ever give it a real try i'll post a picture!

I love this trend, really do. I think a black pair of harem pants which are a bit draped at the upper side would look amazing with a white blouse with black accents, which is kind of what lafindesiecle already said.

I think this looks really good, it would've been better if the pants didn't hang this low though..

they're so expensive on ebay, etc. maybe ask your mother for her old pants and tailor the lower part yourself. my mom brought out maybe 10-12 pairs, perfect fit, and said "i'm glad you asked, i was about to donate them!"

kinda hard to take a pic of myself.. but i tried. the black top is C&C california, the harem pants are AA, the belt is 3.1 phillip lim, the cardigan is Alexander Wang, the handbag is Alexander Mcqueen, and my favorite boots of all time are Tripp!
