Haute couture F/W 2011/2012 schedule

As in, announcing it on the runway? I really can't see that happening as it would be a really stupid idea, imo. That would just take the attention COMPLETELY away from the collection and everybody will be talking about the announcement.

given what we've seen from the recent resort collection, I think until a real designer is actually making the clothes, they would be wise to take attention away from the collection

Thats in your opinion though, its a completely stupid idea that he's taking a bow full-stop, he isn't a creative director, he's just the man with the money.

and lets not forget Sidney Toledano did the same thing at the start of the Dior RTW Fall 2011/12 show, by giving a short announcement, did it take away from the collection ? No!.

I have no expectations for Dior. The statement "will be designed by the in-house team." (the phrase de jour since all of these sudden departures) disappoints and irritates me due to the lack of imagination the In-House Teams are prescribed to have.
It feels like a waste of a season.
Will it be as soon as the couture shows for the new designer to be announced?

I'm beyond excited for Giambattista and I have high hopes, so he'd better not disappoint.
I've been somewhat underwhelmed with Lagerfeld's Couture lately, but I will always look forward to it. I can't wait to see what show he puts on at the Grand Palais.

I'm really curious about Giambattista Valli's first couture show. And Dior after Galliano is another show I'm looking forward to.

I thought I heard that Zac Posen was doing couture now. Am I wrong? (Please say I'm wrong).

I'm dying to see some imaginative and innovative couture. So refreshing after so much resort wear.

Obviously that's my opinion, hence why I said it. Do you honestly think it'd be a good idea? There's a tiny difference between the announcement that was made on last season's runway and this sort of announcement. Announcing a new creative director three seconds after some one else's vision just walked down the runway is not only incredibly rude and unprofessional, it makes absolutely no financial sense either. At that point all attention will be turned away from that collection and onto the next designer (which as Littleathquakes said, may not be that bad judging by the Resort line). Plus, it won't be good for the brand from a commercial standpoint, it's almost like they're intentionally trying to sweep the whole collection under the rug and focus on the next step of the company, which if the case, then why even bother showing a collection.

ETA: Unless the newly announced designer is the one who was the creative director of the HC collection, in which case it would make perfect sense to combine both the revelation and the new collection at the same time.

Well if Galliano left right in the middle of the collection (presumably...im interested as to how the schedule for a house like Dior looks like, as in when they start working on this and so on...) or he left before they started, no one is expecting this grand show for the HC, they will be more interested in who led it and so on... if it does turn out to be a complete and utter disaster people won't care, they know the position that Dior is in right now they're interested in who will take over. If it's a disaster and Arnault announces who will take over then they will just focus on that.

Uhm, am I the only one noticing that there's AZZEDINE ALAIA!!!! on this schedule.
I remember seeing his fall 2011 collection on wwd.com so I'm wondering what he'll show. Does anyone know?

There has been one Chanel couture show at Palais at night (as in dark) with the huge perfumes on the runway and I gotta say I loved that - I've been waiting for a show like that again!
Last fall's show was at 8pm at Palais but there was still daylight which pretty much killed the night atmosphere I was waiting for - I hope this season won't disappoint!

About the Galliano at Dior thing - I don't think Galliano designed this HC collection. The resort one is obviously not designed by him, and resort is always designed before couture. The couture collections are developed and finished moments before the runway show, so it's pretty much impossible for Galliano to have done it before he was officially fired.

^You might be right, but designing the couture is a long process also, the ideas and inspiration might have been collected well before the resort collection, but I think the in house designers designed and are completing the dior couture. Also, I don't think it will be more boring than the previous collection designed by Galliano. The dior couture has been bland for many seasons.

I read that until a new designer is officially comfirmed at Dior a long time Galliano collaborator will be in charge, (pattern maker Bill gayten) he´s been working with him since day one.

I also cannot wait for Chanel couture, I wonder which will be the setting this time!!

I, for one, am completely excited for Haute Couture just because you wouldn't know what to expect! For example:

Dior - while the resort was completely boring, it was still beautiful nonetheless. And you'll never know, Haute Couture might bring out more of the creative side of the atelier because COUTURE is COUTURE! And if they themselves (without Galliano's help) made this:

(from redcarpet-fashionawards.com)
then I would be excited to see Dior's collection!!

Chanel - We've seen them do a night/sunset fashion show before and we all know that it was amazing!!

We're not sure if it will produce the same results..but I am sure that it will be breathtaking!

Also, the arrival of Giambattista Valli (this the one I'm actually most excited for) in Haute Couture! I know you guys can't deny that this guy has talent and complete potential for couture!

And the return of Azzedine Alaia, who we all know does beautiful stuff!

So I think that Haute Couture Fall 2011 would be nothing short of Magnefique and Fantastique!!

*ps If I wrote any wrong or misguiding info, I'm sorry! :D

^ That just made me a million times more excited for this upcoming fashion week.

Not that I really care about Dior, but I agree with this.

So, is Givenchy doing runway this season? That's awesome^_^
Can't wait for Givenchy and Valentino. Last few seasons hairstyle and make up at Valentino were amazing imo.

What if the new dior da actually take the bow without any notice? like how would the audience if let's say Tisci and Roitfield take the bow at the end? If Dior already has the new da and want to be fun they should do it, buzz make money

really curious about Valli... and of course Dior... who will desing this collection? is there already some creative guru or will be there again the whole team after show?

If I remember correctly, that dress is vintage.

Oh, oopsie  Thanks for clarifying that. But nonetheless, I am still excited for Dior. The house itself has one of the most inspiring archives couture houses ca ask for! So I'm still very excited! ^_^
