Heatherette S/S 06 New York

their shows have always been like circus shows, clothes look like flea-market-finds-turned-into-highschool-projects...I do agree with the Galliano cheap knock offs comment

they've missed the elephant and the lion part.
I seriously won't wear some of those.
Although I do have to agree that some are pretty wearable.

Hrrrm, same old Heatherette, but I do admit they put on a fun show thats like a candy high to watch with all the colors, odd things like pouring cocktails, Amanda and hellokitty randomly in there, and actually in the past I've found I like their music selection.

Question is...

Even though I don't pair clothes like that together...

Should I be scared that some items look like it came out of my closet?

There aren't that many neat outfits this year, I think. But I still like their fearlessness.

What's most interesting and perhaps most threatening is the fact that they are slowly but surely moving toward clothing that is visually attractive, versatile and maybe even wearable. They have a real joy for fashion and fun that is enviable and turn something that is looked upon as being so serious and uppity and use it to knock down barriers. It's a mighty stance and I'm really glad they're around.

I do not see anything about it that's threatening. I think we may be happy that designers that do what they do for fun are now more and more meeting the fashioncrowds halfway. Combining with fun with beauty and wearability. Fashion needs more fun in it now and then and when these two crazy guys deliver that in a respectable way, then that is perfect.

Wow, looks like Heatherette is toning down a bit. This is so much more sophisticated and mature than last season. Imagine that

I actually like the collection. I'm not sure about the wearability, and for some reason, half of it reminds me of a love child of Alexander McQueen's Hitchcock Heroine and the colours that Marc Jacobs used to use for his collections. But this collection is nowhere near the Heatherette's crazy collections in the past (except for the drapery that Naomi Campbell wears. It's a plot against her, y'know), so that's a good sign.

i don't know that those pillow skirts show much attention to detail... giant pillows aren't exactly hard to sew and it's freakin' easy to make an unevenly hemmed petticoat...

Luckily crazy is always in style.

awful as usual, looks like Galliano copies from a C student in fashion school.
