Hedi Slimane leaves Dior Homme

Hedi leaving is no loss. Dior has gone downhill since 2005. The only person I would like taking over is Taralis, but apparently he isn't even considering the idea, which is a bit of a loss for menswear.

I DEFINATLEY AGREE Hedi Silmane is a horrible menswear designer(I hope Benard Arnault Fires Him) Dior Homme has no Pazazz or Glam to that label.. I think the best Dior Homme Collection in my eyes is the 2000 F/W when Gianfranco Ferre designed it they need to bring him back to Dior! Or Let John Richmond or Galliano Do the mensline Im still waiting on my J'Adore Dior Tshirt in mens medium hahaha Pilati is a Excellent Designer for YSL I love his stuff.

This is humour... right?.....

Taralis was appointed creative director at Cerruti a few months ago, which effectively made him unavailable. Imagewise, there are'nt any designers better than Slimane right now. If he leaves (which i don't think he will) it would be a downgrade of sorts, for them to hire someone else..............

PAST THE IMPASSE: Protracted negotiations to renew Hedi Slimane's contract at Dior Homme — and launch his signature brand, including women's wear — have taken a positive turn, sources indicated last week. A deal has yet to be signed, but it is understood talks are progressing well between the men's wear star and the French fashion house. One concrete sign is the fact that, contract or not, a Dior Homme fall-winter 2007 show is going ahead on Jan. 30 during men's fashion week in Paris. The show venue should be finalized today. Meanwhile, guests at the Dior couture show today should expect a rather timely start: It's slated to be broadcast live in Japan at a special party Dior has organized there.

I kind of hope Hedi doesn't leave Dior, I want that spark they used to have. Right now it's getting so...commercial. Thier new SS polos have patches that read DIOR HOMME on them, I was so shocked that they're getting like Gucci now!! Also, everything has that dart on it, which makes me cringe, even sweaters have darts (well, seams that look like darts)

I swear we've had this same discussion every season for the past three or four seasons, "rumor has it Hedi is going to YSL!!!" It didn't make sense the first time somebody posted it, and it still doesn't make any sense to me. Pilati is changing the dynamic over there and doing a great job. Hedi's aesthetic is totally different and the silhouette and customer that YSL has been courting since Tom left would TOTALLY be alienated with Hedi at the helm.

It's fun to speculate, but this really IS a circular discussion (as was noted earlier). I miss Kit and the ole days...

To be honest, i don't really care. I love Pilati for YSL, i loved tom Ford for YSL. Damnit, i loved Hedi Slimane for DiorHomme too, he's collections are very good, but just like Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, all the collections is the same. Depressive-slogans on tee's, striped polo's, "different" trenchcoats, some overpriced hoodies, skinny jeans, and a few "extremely special" pieces (for the S/S, the whole halterneck-stuff, and the spagetthi-strap tops). It's nice and all, but i'm so tired of designeres producing the same stuff over and over again. Unless it's faaabolous, it's not working. But at least, it's better than Galliano, which is exactly the same, just w/ more and more freaky styling (although i love some of the S/S-stuff). I want some changes! I love designers who stick to themself, but still make each and every collections different (Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen etc).

Am I the only person here who sees some striking resemblance between Mr. Slimane and Mr. St Laurent? Both are talented, quirky, pale, fragile, somewhat private designers who are also superb in tailoring skills with a fondness for le smoking. Both are also somewhat lean, streamlined and modern in their sensibility with the occasional, strictly rationed frills.

One thing I'm sure of is that if Galliano takes over Dior Homme, he'll KILL it. Imagine puffy pirate shirts and Galliano's portrait on every DH t-shirt... :yuk:

hahaha, agreed! Reminds me of the seinfeld-show, "the puffy shirt". I always thought that was soo hilarious, cause John could easily use that in a show, only more puffy.

The fashion business is all image, from the clothes to the hands that create them. Hedi has become his own brand---- and with much credibility, in my opinion :D --- since taking the reins at Dior Homme, no doubt that will benefit YSL. If I were the people at YSL, I'd definitely attempt to lure him over as well!

It always takes Bernard Arnault a lengthy time to negotiate a contract with a talented designer but usually people at LVMH and Dior are too smart to let any exceptional talent like Hedi Slimane go. (see Marc Jacobs) Speaking of GAP, hedi slimane is not right for the label. I know how bad GAP is doing but hedi slimane is just too avant garde for GAP.

I beg to differ his designs would fit in perfect with the exception of shoes, All those plain rugby polos, tshirts with little designs, and white dress shirts his design ideas would be perfect maybe make the sizes larger.

Well, Dior Homme DO make other stuff than that, Galleria. I see a clear difference between DH and gap..

This is bs, why would Hedi leave Dior Homme? He has inspired so many men to get up off of their behinds and work out, so that they can fit into his super tailored clothing, he has also inspired a sub culture of frail teens and young men who are not afraid of being adrogynous and creating their own style. Galliano could never take the reins of Dior Homme, i agree with whoever said he would "KILL IT". I would like Hedi to stay at Dior Homme and take the head position at YSL. LOL! Why not? Marc does it.

Interesting and fragly very chocking rumor here. If you ask me I don't think there is no way Dior would let Hedi wonder of to YSL. That would be like LV letting Marc Jacobs leave them for Hermés.
Is there some truth in this rumor or is it completley BS?

i like pilati! he is a good successor for mister Saint Laurent... he has understood the house allure...

"Hedi could create more buzz about YSL than Pilati can, since he's become more of a designer star, and probably would generate more sales..." that´s true also

on the other hand i love the work Slimane is doing for Dior Homme... very fresh!...
