Bay Area Fashion Design / Knitwear students - Machine Knitting Project

If you are a student / designer in the SF Bay Area (CCAC, Art Institute, Academy of Art, etc), I’ve got a simple project for you:

I have sport- and lace-weight yarns that I need knit into large stockinette rectangles for manipulating into fabrics through a shibori-like process - fulling/felting, stitching, dyeing, etc. I am a hand knitter and musician, with a vision that I am trying to realize, and some eye problems that make this difficult to pull off on my own. Initially this should take 2 -4 hours, depending on the machine. If you are a student, this could be done on the school's machines, your studio or my living room. Either the City or East Bay is good, from my perspective.

Just send me an email back if you or someone you know is interested :flower:

CommonCreativNYC looking for contributors, profile subjects

Hello. My name is CommonCreativNYC.com. I am a revolutionary new site that was launched to make creativity common again.

I was created by a woman that has interned for award-winning womenswear designer Prabal Gurung, works at TASCHEN, one of the premier art bookstores in the country, interned in the fashion department at ELLE Magazine and volunteered at NYFW. She's also contributed to VOGUE.com and Twitter-viewed RJ Cutler, the director of "The September Issue."

I just launched a few weeks ago and I am looking for contributors (high-level positions such as Fashion Director, Managing Editor are also available, just state your interest) as well as profile subjects such as new fashion designers, incredible artists, stylists, editors of new fashion publications and anyone else that has done something brilliant and something creative.

If you're at all interested just send me a message. Goodbye.

Are you sartorially savvy? Do you love spreading the word about great shopping destinations? If you’re a male college student who answered these questions in the affirmative—or you know someone else who fits this profile—please read on:

AKIRA is an innovative men’s and women’s retailer based in Chicago. The company is a major player on the Windy City’s fashion scene and boasts a fast-growing national presence. Since its inception as a single women’s store in 2002, AKIRA has extended its influence to 14 boutiques in the Chicagoland area and an e-tail website (http://www.shopakira.com). Although ShopAKIRA.com doesn't currently sell men's fashions, AKIRA's men's division runs a blog (http://www.akirablog.com) that offers photo & video coverage of the men's stores' latest offerings.

As part of our mission to cultivate a reputation with fashion-forward individuals all over the country, we are seeking out male college students to serve as AKIRA Men's Campus Marketing Representatives. Over the course of the spring 2011 semester, Campus Marketing Reps will be asked to take on the following responsibilities:

-Approximately two marketing tasks a month (these may come in the form of in-person word-of-mouth tasks with other students on campus or viral marketing tasks completed online)

-Regular email correspondence with the members of AKIRA Chicago’s office

Reps will be compensated for their successful marketing efforts (i.e. increasing traffic to AKIRA’s online store at http://www.shopakira.com) with rewards such as gift cards and clothes. Although the position is part-time and will not interfere with Representatives’ class schedules, it will provide them with valuable experience for future careers in the fashion industry and significantly enrich their resumés.

If this opportunity appeals to you, please send your resumé to [email protected].
