^^I agree with Disco.

High waisted is hard to pull off, but I have seen pics where it looks really good. Like disco said I think intricate or frilly girly tops do not always work well. The jeans themselves draw enough attention. I wear mine with simple tanks of solid color and it looks ok to me. But to others it may just look ridiculous. Hahahaa....
I love them regardless. They are fun and a different style to wear other then low rise.

A true high waist jean can be hard to pull off but a HIGHER rise of say something between 9-10 inches is something , vast majority of woman can pull off and it shows of their feminin form. We are soo use to seeing low rise , we forget it doesnt do much to the female form. Yeah high waist jeans , have a personality of their own , you dont need a big jazzy top , which is what makes them great .

agreed. i refuse to admit that skinny jeans are going out of style. absolutely refuse. i will fight til the bitter end, lol.

shewar, don't you just see absolutely no one but bankers or corporate types wearing high waist flares on the weekends?

^ yea, the cluelessly trendy manhattanites eat 'em up. i just can't get over how it all looks from behind.

high waisted jeans work well for people who have longer legs than torso's (like me), i thought it would look freakish but i'm pretty happy with the way they fit
agreed...
:p
i have been dying for high waists to come back for forever!...
the longer rise is key for me...

:D

YES...absolutely...so true..

:flower:

I think high waisted trousers a la 1940s look much better than the whole high waisted jean look. Although there are some people who can pull off the high waisted jean, but I agree about it being very difficult. Keira Knightley recently wore a pair with a simply black tank & black blazer, which is probably the best way to wear them - simple & clean.

I still believe a higher waist jean is much more attractive to woman ,there have been disastrous versions of high waisted jeans , 80s acid wash jeans , mom jeans , and high pocket jeans from the 90s but low rise jeans dont have a great track record either with muffin tops and whale tales ,etc . Then they are jeans which are timeless , Marylin monroe in her jeans , Charlotte Gainsbourg to Farah Fawcett and Jacyln smith in their trouser jeans/flares , to Brooke shields in her jeans. Im not saying women should ditch low rise but I am saying is a higher rises do more justice to them ( 9-10 inch rise is safe for the vast majority of women) anything higher is more trickier to pull off. Yeah pants are always easier to pull off , because the fabric is flowy and not skin hugging typically. Well high waist pants , the 40s/70s YSL type pants are gaining significant ground in the corporate world , most go to work clothing stores like Banana republic , Lerner NYC , and Express have been selling these pants as staples in their stores .

but disco---one really must keep in mind body types. some look amazing in lowrise. marilyn monroe has an ideal figure, not the average.

Yeah true , I was giving example of woman who looked amazing and she was extremely voluptous and sexy. In any case , does any one have photos of high waist jeans for Fall 2008???

I am considerung buying some high waisted pants in black, but not as a trend piece, more as a classic. Simple, but with a great cut, of decent material.

Like the pants in the pics below, but made of better material and not cut like skinny jeans, but straight.

Any ideas where I can get some? Or other ideas that will make them more classic than trend?

What do you think of getting them custom made by a tailor?

I like high waisted jeans when they are wide.. don't really like skinny high waisted jeans since the butt always looks awful in them :ninja:

high waist skinnies look good on very tall lithe girls , but a high waisted straight/slight boot cut akin to late 70s early 80s jordache jeans look very sexy but I think high waist straight wide legs /trouser legs look best in high waists

i just saw those cheap mondays in white on someone today.
it looked AWFUL. n order to wear such a high rise, one needs to have longs--to avoid long crouch.

she wore heels, but it wasn't enough.

I saw pictures of high-waisted jeans and thought that they looked so incredibly difficult to wear, but I caved the other day and bought a pair of black high-waisted, wide-legged jeans. I think they look surprisingly good, considering they pretty much defy every jean norm today. I'm not even super tall and skinny (I like to think of myself as Olsen-sized haha), but the high waist makes my legs look longer and I just think it's a really interesting cut. I say if you can find a pair that you like, go for it! Who wants to be the same as everybody else, anyway?

cheap monday makes some good jeans but most of their jeans are badly cut esp their high waist , the have high waist skinny jean with a 15 inch rise it is truly hideous .
