High-waisted skirts can be just as bad as high-waisted shorts. However (at least to me), high-waisted skirts are more tolerable than high-waisted shorts. I think back to some short and mid-length dresses in which the skirt part seems more like it extends from the bustline. That's what I think about in regards to high-waisted skirts. The reason why I don't completely like high-waisted skirts is because I don't think they look very good. You have to build the skirt to rest on the hips while extending upward to support the waistline. You can do so, but the end result doesn't look very good. Then too, do you really want people to think you have a short torso? My advice: I wouldn't wear these. There may be some cute skirt out of the blue that has me showing praise. But in actuality, bad idea. Bad idea even if you want to provide the illusion of a shorter torso and longer legs. I could tolerate ladies wearing belts around their belly or just below the bustline. I CANNOT tolerate high-waisted skirts. I ask again... is the issue of unexpected showing of butt crack THAT bad to the point where someone tries to offer these high-waisted bottoms in a variety of styles?
I say again, the only high-waisted material I'd wear (if I were a lady) would be high-waisted trousers at the office or for spending a Saturday evening having fun. Ditch the high-waisted shorts AND the high-waisted skirts. I tolerate skirts more than shorts, but high-waisted bottoms can look absolutely horrid, especially when done absolutely wrong.
