I hate my hair - rant thread

My rant is that my hair length was below the boobs and I go into the aveda salon for a well needed trim... I told the guy no more than 2 inches and he even picked up my hair and showed me....uhhh needless to say he made the first cut and I knew it was over. My hair now sits an inch and a half past my shoulders

I try to justify it by telling myself I've been needing to cut all the dead ends off, but it's not working....

I even went to the length (no pun intended) to buy that mane n' tail shampoo and am even taking vitamins to make it 'grow' faster. Even though I well know that hair only grows .5 inch each month lol

I've been through hair hell. Seriously! :D I once had 5 haircolors in 2 days.

- Blonde
- Black
- Orange (Really orange!)
- Yellow
- Ginger

Never dye your hair yourself! You'll get in trouble! :D

I HATE MY HAIR!!!!

it's very thick and i have lots of it,
which means i'll never go bold but still...

i have to thin it out constantly.

and right now i'm letting it grow out a bit (i'm a boy)
and once it gets to a certain length it begins to curl.

I hate my hair. I just find it so hard to fix, especially the side parts... it stands up just minutes after styling it. :( Take a look:

Ok, please don't laugh :D Any suggestions what hair products to use? I want my hair to look sorta like this:

^ My hair grows like weeds though!

Whilst you probably won't agree, lucky you! Mine takes forever to grow even half an inch. Having said that my fringe is past my eyes now,if my hair length was slightly shorter I'd look like the YSL models with the pudding bowl hair cut :D

My rant is that I went to the hairdressers yesterday and asked for a medium to dark brown and came out with black hair. At the time, when he showed me it I said I liked it because I thought it was just the shock of seeing myself with a new colour but when I got home and looked at myself properly under a bright light I realised it's black. I should probably mention I'm quite pale and naturally blonde.

The first time I went to a different hairdressers and asked for light brown and I came out with these horrible reddish tones in it that didn't suit me at all. I let it fade quite alot into this gross ginger colour and then one day when I was bored I let my friend dye over it with brown L'Oreal dye which lasted about two weeks before fading into an orange colour again. I left it for a few weeks before going to get the gingerish colour fixed because I wanted to give my hair a rest and yesterday...I come out with black hair.

I'm too much of a wimp to go back and complain because to be fair, I did say I liked it in the salon because I didn't think it was that dark, I thought it was the lighting and even if I do go back, all he's going to suggest is stripping the colour and dying it again which would take money I haven't got and probably fry my hair to death.

I've been fading it as much as possible with hot water but it's not having much effect. I suppose I'm just going to have to go and get my eyebrows tinted and suck it up for a few months before I get it stripped and dyed again :(

How hard is it to get normal medium brown?!?

^That's really unfortunate, Emily! Maybe you should give it more time. I think salon dye takes longer to fade. I know that when I dyed my hair black with the cheap drugstore dye like Garnier, it fades in just a few shampoos. lol, I dyed my hair black recently and now it's dark brown. Well, as long as it covers my old highlights!

I'm pretty peeved at my hair stylist, too. I went to get a bang trim and decided I might as well add in a few more layers because they were pretty grown out. She went a little nuts with the layering so now I've got sort of a shag hair thing going on. It's not bad... it's just... I still wanted it to look like a grown out bob! I guess i should have made that clear, but I thought it was obvious that more layers =/= shag hair. It kind of makes my head look big and rounder than it already is. But maybe that's just because my hair is being very uncooperative lately. I think it's that stupid cheap shampoo and Suave conditioner that's weighing it down and making it feel greasier. It's usually quite voluminous but now it's like... oily and flat. :/ Can't wait to go back home so I can get back to using my regular shampoo and conditioner!

if ur hair is frizzy etc, you could use some hair wax when u style ur hair
and also I would advise you some prewash hair mask (the ones you put on 30-40 minutes before washing hair and then wash off), there's very good LUSH hairmask called "jasmin and henna", it puts down unruly hair

fast growing hair is not good when you color hair and then the roots grow out very fast and you have to color them more often, which is tedious!

Dry & Damaged :ninja:

all it needs is a lil tender love & care
good moisturizing shampoo and conditioners, maybe a hair mask everyonce and while when if feels dry.
baby trims like half inch or less make a world of a difference!

I need some serious help!
My flyaways are killing me, my hair is getting electrified because of blowdrying and hair-straighteners and the top of my hair is frizzy and full of baby-hairs and flyaways. Also when it's windy my hair is getting messy.
Please advise me how to make my hair heavier and how should I treat those baby hairs?

cherryblossoms, there are couple of things that i think might help. i dont think it will eradicate it but itll tame the flyaways.

* hairspray on a toothbrush so you can just get only the hairs you need to tame
* stronger/heavier conditioners will 'weigh' down the flyaways
* finishing spray/light leave in conditioning spray/creme/grooming cremes after blow drying & straightening

i used to have problems with baby hairs in junior high & grade school. it they only really stood up when i was blow dried so i just air dry. i was actually talking about baby hairs on Monday with my sister lol she pointed out that i dont have baby hairs anymore(around my hairline or top of my head). i think they all grew out! yaeee

thank you for the tips, kissablekae! :flower:^_^
do I have to brush flyaways with toothbrush/hairpsray on it? I want to try it!
I'm afraid putting styling wax etc. on my roots/head cause it might grease my hair (it's getting greasy pretty fast), but my ends are rather dry so I use deep conditioners/masks only on the length of my hair, but I avoid putting something on routs/bangs where all the flyaways are! don't know what to do...

yep just spritz the hairspray onto the toothbrush then brush down the flyaways!

Ick so my hair is growing (Hoorah) but it's not at that awful length where its sort of on my shoulders :( Come on hair, grow quicker!

Also the grey hairs are coming back through very quickly :ninja:

I wish I could push a button and have my hair instantly grow to the exact length I'd like. Doesn't it seem like hair grows incredibly slow just when you'd like it to grow fast? I feel like my hair has been shoulder length for ages!

I think it may be the slowest phase of time everrrr! When it's just at the shoulders it never seems to grow! I think mine got stuck at my shoulders once for what must have been over 1 year,or at least it felt like it did! If you find the button to push to make it grow, let me know!!

you might try taking some supplements like calcium etc... cause it fastens hair growing

My hair has been driving me nuts for about 6 months.
Started with a terrible haircut, uneven fringe, hairdresser rubbed my hair to dry it, made it go frizzy & then hacked at it with scissors. Dyed hair semi permanent light brown, it went BLACK. Then faded to this weird dark brown orange copper colour.

I've been taking silica to make it grow faster & I got my sister to cut it. She is not a hairdresser but does really good cuts. Hard because my hair is naturally straight. Then today I used some hair dye remover & got my hair to a nice light golden brown, which was my natural colour before I started to colour it at 13. Hopefully it still is, because i'm not going to put dye on it again until I go grey.
Really happy, for the first time in ages I can look in the mirror & not cringe.
