In flight travel essentials!

I always, always bring earplugs!! Unfortunately for those of us who have to fly coach due to *ahem* monetary constraints have no choice. Once I was on a flight from NY to Hong Kong, seated right next to the bathroom. For the next 14 hours it was the nonstop roar of toilets flushing and the scent of....well.

DandyWarhol, I find it disconcerting at times as well when I absent mindedly carry things on off planes that they should confiscate. I have traveled from NY to London to Paris and back and I had a lighter in my pocket of a sweater the entire time, (this was during the crackdown on carry ons earlier last year, 2 years ago?). And just this past summer I didn't bother to put my small hand gel, lip glosses and what not in a plastic bag and none of them got taken (Heathrow).

There's just a lot of panic about this. I mean, I can never be sure that they won't throw some of my stuff away, so these days I'd rather pack most of the important stuff away and check it in. After finding the perfect leave-in conditioner in HK and having it thrown away because of the crappy transfer policies at CDG, I'd rather not lose something else.

I go back to Hungary in 2 days and i'm already extremely stressed up what they will take away and what not.
Another problem is that between Japan and Europe you can't bring 2 luggages on economy, so i have to send one of my luggages by Japanese post.

What? Are you for real? Ugh..... I only fly Austrian for European flights. All my overseas flights are other airlines. Air France/KLM is good, but with AF you gotta stop at CDG. And like I said, it's beyond crappy there.

Have a good flight :flower:

I choose Austrian Airlines cause i can drink a lot of great Austrian beer for free. Plus it's close to Budapest. Simply i wouldn't take more time with traveling to a city far like Paris or Frankfurt and than back to Narita. It sounds funny i know, but changing flight in Vienna is comfortable for me.
Anyway i checked other airlines too and most of them don't allow more than 1 luggage except you go to the USA, Canada or Mexico.

I just remembered, eyedrops for my eyes. My contacts shrivel up into two little balls of plastic, the air is so dry. Also, big thick huge socks. My feet get cold and on long haul flights I like to take my shoes off. Hand sanitizer like Purell, esp. after going to the bathroom and seeing they're all out of soap/tissues etc.

I'd guess so.... it'd be smaller than 100ml, no? Besides, with something that small, it'd be easy to tuck it into a looser pair of pants

Oh, and I just wanted to say that I flew to China several times last year and I always had more than one piece of luggage. Even this year when I flying around Europe (I was with KLM and Air France)

Yup eyedrops allowed. I believe all the items I listed are flight approved. In some drugstores, there is a 'sample size' section and usually a sign on the products with a little airplane saying 'flight approved.' I know the eyedrops and Purell are ok. Anything more is up to the discretion or incompetence of the TSA.

Ugh...flying can be so stressful & just irritating all around. My boyfriend and I just recently came back from Greece & I had no problem with my suitcase going over there, but when I came back I realized that they had taken all of my shampoo & conditioner (which was the below the limit) and some face cream by chanel that i JUST bought (350 f*cking dollars) and they tossed it all. i screamed and raged, lol. sorry to prattle about that, i just fume to EVERYONE about that - they all probably think i'm mad as a hat!

Anyhoo. Mostly when I'm flying (I'm terrified of it all) I just take something to make myself fall alseep ASAP or try to bring a book if it's a short flight by myself. For the most part I fly with people I love being with so I'll just talk to them the whole time and bring a warm sweater or blazer because it gets sooooo cold in the front of the plane!

^ I always take lil more sedatives so i'm relaxed and can fall asleep easily. However i don't suggest this to anybody.

i love to fly. must be cause I've been on planes ever since I was a lil' boy, haha. And lamby, you should have told them that your stuff is under the limit. they have no rights to throw your stuff away when it's under the limit.

Hi

This might be a stupid question, lol, but I haven't flown in ages.

Are liquids still banned from flights? I know they were for a bit, but that was quite a while ago... don't want my perfume chucked if its still not allowed :/

Other than that, I'm assuming all other rules are the same as always (no sharp item etc)

Thanks for any replies in advance :flower:

My boyfriend actually went and spoke to them & said that, but they're whole excuse was "Well, it's gone and done, so oh well." And we both just figured it was pointless to argue any further so I just had to go out and buy new haircare & face care products.

as long as all your liquids are under 100ml it's okay. but you can't take too many liquids either, cause you have to stuff them all into a 1 liter plastic ziploc baggie and lemme tell ya, those baggies is MINISCULE! teensy tiny!

Take one 100ml max perfume with you, that should be enough. else, either get small containers and fill them up with your normal skincare products which you think you'll need on the flight. I also like to stuff all kinds of sample sizes with me on planes. Just ask at a shop where you shop a lot for said products and ask them for some.

^ I really suggest samples. ^_^
In Japan i got 5 Shiseido samples (mostly around 7ml) from 2 types of cleanser to toner and night and day moisturizer.
At least my skin could feel on business class while i was "enjoying" traveling hell on economy.
