Hello all,
I just came back from a San Francisco to London(about 10.5 hrs), London to Jordan trip (5 hrs) and had absolutely no problem toting a small carry on and a laptop bag.
The new regulations are confusing, but I was able to travel with: 3.5 ounce bottle of parfume (no way in hell I would check this in with the way baggage handlers throw around luggage), 3.4 ounces of hand & body cream, lip balm, face moisturizer, eye drops, evian face spray, travel sized tooth paste, deoderant and face wash and a tooth brush. I didn't feel risky enough to try makeup. I can tell you all now that I will be saving travel sized toiletries and samples from department stores for next year's trips (if restrictions are still applying)
Water was the biggest issue. You had to purchase water in the airport after going through security and you have to finish it/leave it behind upon transferring to the next flight. My sister tried keeping the empty bottle to fill it up once on the plane, but Heathrow security wouldn't allow it.

Have great flights, everybody! :flower:

so, if i am flying from the US to Europe, on my way back, it will still be okay for me to have my little liquids and stuff or will they take them away? these rule things are so confusing.

I'm also going to be flying overseas this summer, and the new carry-on liquids restrictions seem like a hassle. They all have to be put in a sealed ziploc bag right??

I'm going from canada to NYC does anyone know what one does with the contact lense solution / contact lense case? i know liquids are in a small ziplock bag but i wonder if this is some kind of exception?

  • Travelers may now carry through security checkpoints travel-size toiletries (3 ounces or less) that fit comfortably in ONE, QUART-SIZE, clear plastic, zip-top bag.
  • After clearing security, travelers can now bring beverages and other items purchased in the secure boarding area on-board aircraft.

  • Liquids including water, juice, or liquid nutrition or gels for passengers with a disability or medical condition;
  • Life-support and life-sustaining liquids such as bone marrow, blood products, and transplant organs;

I'm flying on wednesday...hope I don't run into any "trouble"!

I fricking hate terrorists for making flying so much more of a hassle.

Thank god that there are sample sized products. At 5-10ml per product, it's easy to take them with you on a plane.

Plus!!!

Sales people at MAC counters have those lil' containers which they use to put samples in. Ask for a few of them. They are really small and look cute (transparent bottom with a black lid with MAC embossed on top). I'm not sure how much fits inside, but 5ml will do and usually, people don't need more than that on a flight.

Yes, you hate terrorists for hassles, others hate terrorists for terrorism.

Remember that these 3 ounce bottles must be completely transparent and considering most travel sized products are not, prepare for another annoying transfer.

One thing, why is wearing jeans such a no-no? I've worn jeans in a 6 hour flight and they were not bad, but I do have a 14+ hour flight coming up so I probably would just wear a long skirt.

^lol, is that referring to me?

Sure I hate terrorists too for what they did with our current society (i believe some things would look a lot more different if 9/11 wouldn't have happened. and I'm not just talking about the war!) but sometimes I like to sound a bit more light hearted, cause people can use a bit more lightheartedness at times.

Life can be really pretty if you think in more shallow ways at times :flower:

Is the jeans question also directed at me???

You know whats really good? i dunno if anyone mentioned it but one of those cooling eye sleep mask thingies. like a normal sleep mask but with the gel inside.

bring a good, mousturizing lip balm, not one with a wax base because thatll just block, not mousturize.

if you're skin starts to look grotty during and after flights, bring a small bottle (you can buy them at drugstores) and fill it with your favorite face creme and a bit of foundation.

drink lots of water! ABSOLUTE must.

dont eat anything salty or sour before your flight and work out the day before if possible.

if you want to get really nice soft feet, bring a heavy, thick body creme/butter and massage it thickly into your feet, then cover with soft socks. when the flight it done your feet will be gorgeously smooth.

:D

and i got lots more where that came from!!

1. Don’t wear light colors that show up dirt and grime.

2. Wear wrinkle resistant tops like stretchy jersey and mesh knits that you can wash as soon as you arrive. Their quick-drying and crease free nature is an added advantage. Stay clear of rigid linens and 100% cottons that crumple and don’t stretch.

3. Wear stretch jeans or stretch pants and avoid the discomfort and inconvenience of a belt (one less thing to worry about as you move through security).

4. Dress in layers and be prepared for temperature fluctuations throughout your journey. Start of with a camisole or tank top so that you can peel right off to this last layer if you need to. Top it off with a wrinkle free knitted top, cardigan, hoodie or stretchy jacket. Wear a trench coat instead of a jacket and look uber chic.

5. Wear soft underwear and avoid scratchy lace and underwire discomfort.

6. Avoid high heels and stick to flat slip-ons like fashion sneakers, ballet flats or loafers. Pack a pair of socks for the flight if you’re not wearing them when you board. (your feet will swell up after a long flight.)

7. Bring along a pashmina that doubles up as a blanket.

8. Pack a fresh top to change into just before you land.

9. Carry a large dressy tote that zips up on top as your handbag option. It can double up as your everyday handbag on holiday.

10. Also, wearing synthetic material can more cause damage to your skin if ever the case of a crash.

What foods do you recommend to take on flight? Foods served on flight is not edible.

i reccomend taking those little fruit cups with fruit in light syrup or water. they're refreshing and light and easy.

also, a trail mix might be good to get your protein and stuff.

dont take anything that needs refridgeration, like cheeses, because itll just taste gross and you wont end up eating it,.

Ahh, thanks Dandy. ...but that makes me wonder if its allowed considering the water..? Anyway, I figure I'll just take one or two bagels, apple/banana and some almond nuts.

Trail mix is a great idea! A lot of people carry those little packages of tuna and crackers. I always take granola or luna bars.
