Interview December/January 2014.15 : Madonna by Mert & Marcus

David Blaine was a terrible choice to interview her. What a moron he is.
The spread is beautiful tho. A few images even great.

Never! Those can never be her boobs however hot it may look. There's not a wrinkle in sight. I like some of the shots in her editorial, the clothed ones. It's rare to see her like that.

The art issue .. more like the photoshop miracle issue. It looks so fake and boring, she always does the same kind of eds this isn't even provocative anymore.

I'm so tired to see Madonna in latex :/ Come on Madonna, you're too old for this kind of shot. I applaud her confidence to do this kind of shot but it's so repetitive

so many latex looks, lately !

anyway. styling is good - madonna styled by her stylist, i guess it couldn't be too wrong. photography is very guy bourdin meets caravagio ...

i like the fact there's a jean cocteau book (in French!) on the last photo.

I think the shoot is supposed to be inspired by Ray Caesar's imageries. Just don't think M&M are talented enough to pull it off, and it ends up looking like them paying "homage", again, to her SEX days. She needs to step away from Arianne, Andy and M&M because they're just giving her the same ol', same ol' crap-- or as Basquiat would say: Samo, samo...

I adore the ol' wench, but my god-- her interviews have become unbearably pretentious, by-the-book existentialist, and just plain bland. That David Blaine doesn't help either in putting the snooze in this fest. She's only human again when she talks about her days in 1980s NYC. She just doesn't seem to have anything interesting to say anymore; It's always about her kids-- all of whom I really don't care for.

For me, Madonna showing skin, or all the other "unsuitable" things she does for her age, that's simply a continuation of the way she always tried to shock.

But what does disappoint me - as others have said - is that there's no progression in the style of shoots she seems to do.

Not a fan of seeing Madonna in magazines. But damn. Those covers. The theme is a little tired but those are some gorgeous covers.

No Christmas bondage M&M?

The first cover look good, the other are boring, but the wors are always the same concept the exesive photoshop and the disaster efect in yhe lips.

The spread is actually gorgeous. Too bad Madonna and her breasts are the models.

Ok, I got the concept,. But still don´t understand why have her nipples look like rubber pacifiers

^^^ She's always had small, odd nipples. And with their excessive retouching, they're even more freakish-- and fake, rubbery-looking.

You know, I can only imagine how rich, how fresh, how unique she could look had she stepped out of her comfort-zone and shot with Peter Lindbergh, Nick Knight, or had worked with Glenn Luchford again. And Lori Goldstein, Karl Templer. I think she's reached a point where she only wants to come across as "sexy" and "powerful", and that's so uninspiring for someone who's now constantly reminding us how much of a rebel, a visionary she still is. The chilly, creepy Dita Parlow persona of her Erotica period and her soulful Jean Harlow-by-way-of-Harlem of her Bedtime Stories era was sexy and powerful looks that also proved how ahead of the rest she was. Even her spiritual Sister-of-Fate of her Ray of Light period was effortless and fresh and hugely influential. This bondage-thing is so numbingly boring.

another spread living up to her music- boring and irrelevant.

I love these images, but M&M are really too much in awe of her, to really take her somewhere new.

Madonna has done it all, and worked with the best in fashion photography. Sometimes she just wants to come across as sexy. Not everything she does has to be radical, and groundbreaking.

Having said that, I'd love to see her work with Peter Lindbergh again. That could be really magical.

^^I think that between Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus she feels she needs to be this "provocative" to be current... I think that "Confessions..." was the last album in which she changed her image in a positive way and that was almost 10 years ago. The last change I liked was with Music and that was 14 years ago, there´s a pattern here... she should break free of the sexual image for a while

I would not want to see the retouching cost for this shoot.
Lack of originality makes it all boring.
