Interview December/January 2014.15 : Madonna by Mert & Marcus

Not everything has to be sexual, There are other styles

she's photoshopped to death here... I like the theme and the look of the images but you can see the work done.

Once again Interview succeds in delevering striking covers. The first one is especially eye-catching. However Madonna in an oversexualised editorial is such a boring subject. I don't see the connection with the Art Issue though, unless you consider the excessive use of photoshop a work of art.

^^I think that between Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus she feels she needs to be this "provocative" to be current... I think that "Confessions..." was the last album in which she changed her image in a positive way and that was almost 10 years ago. The last change I liked was with Music and that was 14 years ago, there´s a pattern here... she should break free of the sexual image for a while
yeah she's desperately trying to be current with her "i'm so hot despite the age" (no offense). she used to be a trendsetter, but with this image, it's not gonna happen unless she changes.

I do love the first cover and, conceptually, the edit is gorgeous. My issue is that at one time, Madonna was a pioneer in creating new trends, but unfortunately she stalled in the early 90's and hasn't moved beyond any of this. It's almost pointless listening to her music, watching her videos or looking at spreads in magazines, because we've all already heard and seen them for over two decades now!

what is she doing? She ruins everything! Everyone will remember her as a pathetic woman instead of the icon she used to be. You have to know when to change/quit/put clothes on and she just wants to keep going and going. It's sad, she really is a caricature of herself, Bondage nana.

I really like the first cover with the mask, an almost appropriate Hannibal esque vibe. M&M have really jumped the shark though; the vacuousness of their work has heightened with great intensity in the small span of a few months. Their obsession with the celebrity icons they shoot is made clear by their inadequacy to portray a surprising or new image for each individual.

so this happenned when someone just does not realize where is the time to leave the business ;)

she means nothing nowadays, just one big nothing no matter how much her fans cant realize it...

it's quite funny, the comments about Madonna haven't changed since the 90ies... time to retire... she is too old... she ruins everything... etc. ;-))) that really makes me laugh... and she is like 'i don't give a t*ss what u guys have to say about me'... i don't like many things she does but the level of judgment Madonna gets is just insane;-) the woman has beautiful bo*bs...and there're many ppl who still want to see them;-D

I don't like any of these covers but there's no denial there're some absolutely amazing shots in the editorial...

why would anyone who is the wealthiest recording artists of the moment (that's according to Billboard magazine) would think of leaving the business? she still manages to earn more money and publicity than anyone else... yes, she doesn't get much air nowadays which doesn't allow her singles to chart as well as they used to but anyway...why am I even defending her? anyway... ;-)))

The problem is that it used to be said by her detractors or people who were never a fan to begin with but now even her supporters and fans are tired of it. I know, I used to be one:/

Those cant be her real boobs, surely. It looks too firm and there's not a wrinkle in sight. Unless of course.......

You know, I was thinking about this the other day. I feel like Madonna's style/presentation has been very same-y for the last 7 or 8 years (I guess? Since Hard Candy??), for someone who's known for constantly "reinventing herself" she's become pretty stale and predictable.

Both her and Mert and Marcus need to recharge their creative juices, it's the same stale **** all the time, and it's not bashing Madonna just for the sake of it, god knows the woman lives on that. Like blurorchid said, it's the same image for almost a decade. I could have told you what the styling, concept and backdrop of the shoot would be without even looking at it.

The Loewe/JW editorial looks lovely.

Madonna looks great in the editorial and on the covers. Although, seeing the Versace ads now, I much prefer that look for Madonna than what we have here.

Wow Maartje looks amazing, Bram looks a bit awkward but I'm really looking forward to see that whole edit

Exactly! This is Madonna. If were hating is because we expect more!! Reese and Jennifer Aniston can look exactly the same for the last two decades and we don't care because they're insignificant. From Madonna we want iconic. Plus she's had eras that weren't about sex. Evita.. Ray of Light.. Fake british accent madonna. Who else would ever adopt a fake accent!!!

Apples and oranges! Let's keep Jennifer Aniston out of this.
