Is Bare Minerals Worth Buying?

I love the mineral veil, even thought i've heard that the talc in it may cause breakouts? but then again, it just depends on your skin type, Mineral Viel is just basically a good finishing powder :P I personally love MAC PRessed Blot powder, just cause mineral veil still gets me too oily =(

OMG, mineral veil has talc?1 no wonder i get itchy...but its so good. oh well, ive posted before that id buy bare mineral all over again, but maybe not, mainly because when i put it on, my face gets itchy. also when my temperature rises i get itchy, does anyone else experience this?

I do experience this!!! But i do belive it's ethier the talc or mica that does it, however althought i get itchy when i wahs my face at night, nothing horrible is lft on my face........belive you me, i've been plastered out on my bed after a long day at school with my face still on, only to wake up and have nice skin evne thought it may be a bit itchy........seriously, with my teen/acne-prone/olilier than an arabian country skin, this stuff is the bomb!

(Even though i'm adventourus and have been savin up the dough to buy a crpa load of chanel double perfection, which is supposedly better for my skin type!

^ whatever you find that works more than amazing for acne prone/oily skin pleeeeeease tell me!!! ^_^

I finally tried it. I won't be going back to a liquid anytime soon:lol:

I haven't had a single break out since I started using Bare Minerals:flower:

Yes, yes , yes, like a million times . A must try is the multi-tasking bisque . The only downside is that if your skin reacts with bismuth oxychloride, articles from Mineral Beauty indicate that it gives certain reactions to some people, though some don't.

It gives the best finish. No single non-mineral makeup brand can ever give you that flawless effect.( i think! )

I just read all the posts! hehe
According to Mineral Beauty , bismuth oxychloride, by composition, has sharp edges, and when it heats up, it gets itchy because of that. So there, irritation occurs. I usually ignore the itchiness sometimes, but it really happens.

Re : Well-rested, yes, it does work wonderfully, just make sure you have applied moisturizer on the eye area, as well as use an eyeshadow brush instead of a taklon concealer brush and dust lightly, don't tug, or it'll look so cakey  Use gentle, soft strokes to conceal undereye circles. Works well for me.

Re : kabuki brushes, yes, they tend to be rough on the skin. There are alot of kabuki brushes to choose from like Clarins, and other generic brands.

For the glowy and illuminated look, use Clear Radiance, or if you want a "glowy-like-a-model-blush", go for Rose Radiance, and if you want a "bronzed-model-blush" look, go for Warm Radiance. They all work great, depending on what you prefer.

Mineral veil only "sets" the look and makes it less "cakey" or makes the makeup look not too visible. I can't live without it, though I have ordered Pure Luxe You Glow Girl finishing powder to compare if it can achieve similar effects since the latter does not have Bismuth Oxychloride in it, which means less itchies for me.

Wow, I thought the itchies only happened to me. It would only happen when I got warm enough to sweat, but if this is what it takes for flawless looking skin so be it : )

Yeah, I know! It really gives of that flawless effect. Actually , it happens to alot of people I know! But they're willing to sacrifice. Tsk tsk, the price of beauty! haha!

Dashpire, there are other mineral makeup brands which have matte finishes, like Everyday Minerals and Pure Luxe. Check them out!

they don't have talc in them. maybe you're allergic to their ingredient, cornstarch. It's a unique ingredient with Bare Minerals that is only found in the Mineral Veil  Mica's harmless.

um. am i applying this stuff incorrectly? I end up with a thick geisha-like mask with the kabuki brush (despite tapping away the excess).

Maybe Kabuki is too dense for you, I mean the bristles, why not try using a blush brush or a powder brush to do that? Don't dip your brush directly into the minerals. Use the lid, get some product there, just a little bit, and you swirl and tap , from the lid

A kabuki brush is a brush that works great with minerals. Sometimes it's too "packed" ( dense ) that picks up alot of product, sometimes there are some which are not as dense. If you are using the Bare Minerals kabuki, it's very very dense.

hey guys, i live in montreal and i don't think they have bare escentuals here. so i'm contemplating to buy from the sephora website... but i don't know how to pick the colours!

i'm asian and i use luminous silk foundation in shade 4... can anyone help? thanks in advance!

Pop onto the QVC site. There is a Skin Tone Guide for Bare Escentuals. This is the Asian model that they feature. They also have several "how to" videos to show you how to use the product.
