Is Bare Minerals Worth Buying?

i'm not big on makeup (i dont usually wear any at all) but this stuff looks so pretty im thinking of investing.

does it work alright with fairly oily skin?

I think if you put any powdery stuff or make up under there, it can get caught in the creases.
Eye cream! lol Even at 25...
I started using eye cream at 20 just to keep it lubricated...theni t doesn't show so much.

How do you get around the issue of if you rub a little off there's a clear line where the makeup ends? (Or like if you cried or got caught in the rain, would be a mess.) That's a dealbreaker for the mineral powder foundations for me.

....at first I was suspicious when I put it on (and very, very careful cause it costs $25 for a bitty little container, haha) cause I didn't think that little bit of powder would provide much coverage ....

But I do think it works ( I had to get second opinions from everyone around me). It's kinda hard to tell with my skin because (really not trying to brag here) I have great skin to begin with so I wasn't sure if there was much of a change...I think it does emit a natural glow and provides pretty good coverage....although I did add a touch of concealer underneath my eyes (need more sleep, haha).

Yeah, I'll try it a few more times but I think it's a definite keeper...:flower:

Mine just arrived :woot: I'll use it today and report back (I got the starter kit) ^_^

yes-- especially good for this type of skin, i'd say.it makes you luminous, and the mineral veil will help your oil.

It doesn't really show. I actually cry alot. It doesn't streak like other make up's, or leave streams. You could just use the brush over once. During the day, sometimes, I just take the brush, without anything on it, and just go over my face once or twice.
you can wear it in the rain. I have gotten caught out there in the rain a number of times and it doesn't leave streaks of colored rain on your face, if anything it looks like it enhances it.
the same as if you were to go out to a club, like me, and dance all night, the natural oils inyour skin, actual make it look very glowy and dewy..but not sloppy and gross.
I just think it is the most amazing thing. It could be, becaus I have use all sorts of brands from chanel to prescriptives, to benefit, bobbi brown etc...nothing stays on so true. I don't feel like I have to worry if my skin looks messed up ever. I used to obsess about it all the time.

thank you! im for sure going to purchase now, especially since you mentioned you still look good after dancing all night (i do that quite often and end up looking like i was pulversized) do you reccomend the regular powder make up also? im not sure i want to get anything with color and i cant decide between the tinted or regular mineral vail.

:flower:

WOW! All I can say is wow!! It looks great, good coverage, easy to apply, and seems to be wearing beautifully. Usually by this time of day I'm super greasy and my make up is creasing a bit - not so with BE. I'm just thrilled :woot: :D

Hi !
I would just stick with the regular mineral veil. It is pretty sheer and you only need very little, as with the make up.
I think the starter kit is well worth it,because, it pays for the brushes alone!
It really works, I don't have perfect skin, but everyone constantly tells me that I am flawless! you will LOVE it...soo easy, and you won't have to worry about anything like creasing etc. The dancing all night, seems to make it look even sexier, even more natural..it is great because it is pure pigments, no fillers, so nothing slides off your face. Also, I found it to be great because you could sleep in it, if you HAD to ( wink wink) lol!
and still look amazing the "morning after"..

I'm so glad it worked out for u
I can't wait 'til friday, that's when I'm buying mine ^_^

im definitley thinking of getting the starter kit, I have really pale/oily skin and makeup always ends up looking unnatural and gross, even though I don't wear that much...I'm only in high school. Has anyone ever tried their liner shadow? I'm thinking of ordering the liner shadow quad from sephora :http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P124702&categoryId=C10470
even though I'm only 15 I have creases right under my eyes and it's hard to wear bottom eyeliner..but seeing as i'm so pale I look gross without a very small amount of eyeliner.. thankss

I had my mom order me and my brother's girlfriend a 10 piece kit off of QVC... it was the today's special value or something.. didn't even last all day... only a little less than half of the day! The cool thing is that I set it up so that they'll send me a similar kit in March(spring colors) May (summer colors) and August(fall colors)...

I've never tried the stuff.. but I saw this thread.. and decided it might be nice!

I also ordered the bisque... hoping it will help with my undereye circles a little... there's this new product in there called "natural light" that sounds fun... I'm excited..

you can find it on qvc.com

I bought a little ' starter ' packet today which you can get here in sweden ( cost $70 ! ), it contained :

1 little jar of medium beige ( which is my colour )
1 little jar of ' warmth '
1 little jar of mineral veil
1 brush

I read the instructions and started applying. While everything looked flawless everywhere but my forehead and chin ( my problem areas, which are dry and looked more flakey than flawless) I do understand all the woe about the ' healthy glow '.

Altogether I think it's a great product, looked natural and gives a healthy glow.
The downpoints were the price and it didn't give me enough coverage which I need for my forehead and chin.

OMG Luna:P , I too bought off QVC.com the tinted mineral veil and the summer bisque set with brush. I hope it works with my tanned South East Asian skin. Ever since moving here to the states, my skin has been from combination to dry and dull. Also my skin tone has been lighter so my current Stilla Foundation and MAC STudio Fix doesn;t look good on me as they did back in my country.
Also with the FF2005 20% off coupon at Sephora I got the Kabuki Brush:blush: . I am hoping to use it as a general brush with other stuff ( Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks etc) since I don't plan on getting a foundation from Bare Minerals ( either Giorgio Armani or NARS)

The brush can be used wth other brand of similar products too right?
I wish I had gotten the set that was Special value last weekend...I read somewhere on either lucky mag (can't rememeber ) that buying makeup sets on HSN or QVC is the best deal for your money.

Golden butterfly--- a good skin care regime helps. I also, had dry flakey skin- you need to exfoliate, because not matter how good a make up, if the base ( your skin) isn't smooth (even with bumps) the make up can only do so much. I didn't have the best skin, but using a toner and a very absorbent lotion helps to slough off the dead flakes and dryness. Just use toner with a cotton pad and you will notice the difference right away. Then 2 times a week, exfoliate with a gentle exfoliator to speed up the process.
For more coverage, use the kabuki brush. However, several light layers with the regular brush should work too.

Anita- it's true, qvc might have a bad rap in the usa, but it really does have these amazing deals.
I think you should try BE, the kabuki brush picks up the minerals better.

I don't have a need for foundation... which is why I just chose to get the bisque... I just have a bit of some undereye circles... and I hate the idea of putting makeup all over my face... even though I'm sure Bare Escentuals wouldn't have that "makeup" feel.

I know QVC gets a crappy rep ... I used to make fun of my grandmother and mom for shopping on it all the time.. but honestly.. if there's nothing else on tv.. I'll watch QVC... they have some really great beauty products on.

The brushes will work with other brands...

When that set was on QVC a couple of days ago.. I freaked out.. and remembered this thread... I called up my mom at midnight (when they show the new special values for the day) ... I told her that it wasn't going to last... they sold 9,000 within the first half hour of the show. I knew it was going to sell out.. the last I saw over 140,000 sets were ordered...

I wish I was the CEO of Bare Escentuals

LOL, Luna. I wish I was the CEO of BE as well! She is rolling in it, and this product is spreading through word of mouth. I converted one co-worker and am currently working on my mom. I still say that Lostinemotion should work for them.
