Is Bare Minerals Worth Buying?

^seems to me like you won't be needing a concealer, after the makeupalley reviews i read.

the minerals are "foundation", pure pigment...so you will get the coverage you need. If you really want to lighten that area, I dab "chenille" eye shadow from BE. on the corners of my eyes, closer to my nose. It really opens and lightens the area up.

OMG, after reading this thread, my mom and I went to Ulta and purchased a starter kit, complete witht he instructional DVD. We went and watched the DVD before anything, then tried it for ourselves. This is the best makeup I have ever tried, and my mom agreed. Our skin looked smoother, clearer, and this one zit I had was practically invisible. I didn't even have to use a lot, and even though I'm super fair, the warmth looked great on me. The first bronzer I've EVER been able to use.

But this is entirely new makeup...I feel like chunking most of my old stuff and sticking with this line.

It's so great, thank you for the reccomendations!

Jane-it is so amazing. I use to use make up that was 3 times the price and it was crap and made my skin bad. This make up, I started using about 5 years ago and never, ever turned back. I bet you will love it.
Also, it works through all seasons. Even in summer, when it is HOT and HUMID...and gross...lol
Sooo glad you like it!

i don't recommend this for anyone who has skin darker than tan. the girl at sephora was right, makes you either look really red or ashy! glad they tried it on me before i bought the kit. kinda disappointed but what can i do? until they start pouring more of their money into product development and less on advertising, I will have to wait.

Is there any difference between the infomercial stuff "Sheer cover" and Bare Escentuals from Sephora?

There is definitely a difference. I used Sheer Cover last year and thought is made the dryness in my skin worse and appear worse as well. It did not give me that flawless look the BE does. I swear, BE makes my skin healthier.

My friend has darker than tan skin. She is darker than a light skin african...and she looks radiant in it.
The key is that a little goes along way.
She is probably is darker than beyonce.

i just got my starter kit in the mail!! I know this sounds dumb...but how do you open the jars of makeup? Like in the foundation there's this white sticker thing over the holes that let the makeup through...and I'm not sure how to take off the white thing? I want to try the makeup....I need to open it first though....dumb question I know but I need help!

Yes, just peel it off. I always have to scrape the edges slowly, until you can just pick it up and pull back.
Then you put the cover back on and shake it around to bring some through the holes.

the SAs at sephora told me they have a high return rate from women who buy the darker shades. the sa did put a light amount on me and it looked ashy.

I'll ask my friend what exactly she does. I will see if she has any tips.
I could see how it could do that, especially if you have very, very dark skin. They should add more colors. I am sure they are working on it.

NO I do not have very dark dark skin, the "dark" color matches my wrist exactly (which I read a lot of asians wear) but once its on my face, it looks ashy! this is why i am surprised because makeup never looks grey or ashy on me.

the sa also put Alison Raffaele on me on one side which was better and I ended up buying the concealer/powder but returning it because i didn't like how it looked when i got home. it's very similar to BA but less known because she puts more money into development and less on advertising. I think she's going to be on QVC too or was on it.

I just asked my dark friend, she said you have to especially buff hard with the brusht hey have and she mixes the deep with tan. Just a suggestion.
She also stressed that having a great skincare routine makes it look flawless. Like cleanse, tone and moisturize.

sigh.

i do, cleanse, tone, and moisturize. i used olay's microdermabrasion/peel kit that morning which makes my skin surface smoother so i know the product didn't work for me. she did mix it with tan and buff with the brush (because she stressed how she didn't need to do that with the alison raffeale). she put it lightly and it didn't work, so you could stop looking for other excuses and accept that it actually didn't work for someone. and i mean that in the friendliest way possible, because i know it didn't sound that way.

sorry, thought you were looking to find a way to make it work, so was just offering advice.
