Is Bare Minerals Worth Buying?

I would just go with the real thing BE. Someone on this site said they tried the other brand you are talking about and said it sucks..and is nothing compared to BE..

I got my Bare Escentuals kit from Sephora today. After all is applied do you just touch up with the mineral veil? I don't want to carry all the makeup in my handbag.

I watched the video that came with it. It looks easy enough but then they talk about all these other colors like Glee, shimmers, etc. Does anyone use so many of the colors at once?

I got the medium kit which came with medium and medium beige. Which one am I suppose to use?

How often do you wash the brushes?
Very little goes a long way. So layering makes really nice looks.
I use the glee as the blush, or something to make me look like I worked out..on cheeks, eyes..then left overs on the brush, over my forehead and chin..
Then I use very little dabs on my cheeks of the clear radiance and warm radiance over that..but very little..
It makes me look more fresh and not dry and tired..

when I don't feel like carrying my make up, I just bring the brush, that has little bit of minerals left over and sweep it over during the day. but i rarely ever have to touch up, if I put enough on.

Get the little compact with the brush and the empty compartment... you can put any of the BE products into it.. a blush... or foundation... I keep mineral veil in mine.

Alouisa...I wondered the same thing..
I think that people, initially, probably thought it was cheesy, and unbelievable because of the "infomercials" and selling on QVC.
BUT...I am in fashion, and I really, really only paid attention, when I had the tv on and kept seeing the commercial for literally 2 years. I happened to be changing planes in Atlanta and my gate happened to be right in front of a Bare Minerals Boutique at the airport...
That is probably the only way. As of this summer, it's now at Sephora..so people are definitely catching on.

I'm thinking of ordering the starter kit but am not sure about the color. I don't want to order the wrong color. Not sure if I should get tan shades or dark shades. Lostinemotion, is your friend darker then my avatar? Just trying to figure out what color to get.

Thanks!

Hi
She is probably your color. I tried to enlarge it.
Anyhow, I think the starter kit comes with 2 colors..so if you are in the ball park, you can get away with it. Also, for your reference, the kit comes with 2 diff shades, BUT...when you go to buy them individually, you can either get the whole size number shade, like 1 or 2 or 3. OR you can buy 1.2 or 2.3 etc.
I am a 1.2, sometimes 2...in summer.

If it's so great how come it's not used at fashion shows?

Fashoin shows use really heavy makeup to stand out under all the lights...

Bare Escentuals isn't exactly what I consider "fashion show makeup" or stage makeup.

^ Yes I think the same. Liquid foundation is a must at the fashion shows.

Yick.. I hate liquid foundation... I refuse to wear foundation because I hate the way it feels... i have pretty good skin so I dont really need it... but I tried the BE foundation on at sephora and you can't even feel it on your skin...

I still only use the bisque and the mineral veil though. I'm gonna pick up some eyeshadows and glimmers next time I'm in Sephora..

How heavy is the coverage? I need a med to full coverage.. also, I've heard mixed reviews on its oil-soaking properties... I have super oily skin.. I don't know if I want to spllurge on BE.. I wish there was a sephoras here so I could try it out first!!

For more coverage, purchase the kabuki brush, it buffs on more.
For the oil, just make sure you use your mineral veil, for the soft candle light airbrushed look......
I honestly feel I could recommend this to atleast try, and you won't be disappointed, you will feel so natural and fresh.

cardboard... even if you purchase the smallest size in the mineral veil(about the size of their eyeshadows, I think), I think you'd fall in love with it instantly. It really does take the shiny away and makes you look finished.

Lostinemotion, since you seem to be the resident expert on BE, can you reccommend any good eyeshadow colors from BE for me to purchase? I'm fair skinned with blue eyes.

TIA :flower:

NO I do not have very dark dark skin, the "dark" color matches my wrist exactly (which I read a lot of asians wear) but once its on my face, it looks ashy! this is why i am surprised because makeup never looks grey or ashy on me.

I've been hearing so much good stuff about BE... but after buying the starter kit that matched my skin the closest, it was too pink (I'm a fair skinned asian)! and any shades darker were too dark; you can see, even with blending, where it is applied on my skin. Also, it seems to crease under my eyes (i'm not that tired looking, am i?)... but don't worry... I gave my kit to my sister and she loves it!

Besides the mineral veil ( which is perfect to give that finishing look ), does BE have some kind of highlighter which isn't too shimmery?
