Isabel Marant S/S 09 Paris

Love the majority of this, the lace tops and dresses are amazing as well as some of the other tops and pieces. I hate some of the styling but I think overall it fits the Isabel Marant look which is kind girly and boyish at the same time. It's a diverse collection because a lot of the pieces individually can appeal to many people which is always a good thing.

thanks so much inaya i love the collection
no problem :flower::flower:

There are some good pieces, but my god, can we move on???
I am so over this look.. it's so tired, imo...
I miss the down-to-earth, understated vibe Isabel Marant once evoked...
Just really great clothes that could be worn by many diff. types of women...

I do adore Alt, but I am starting to think she's a one-trick pony at best...
sadly, I have to agree. I love Emmanuelle, but not only does her recent work lack excitement - but here, it actually makes the clothing look much more dated than it really is. there are a lot of nice pieces but the styling def brings it all downhill.

I really like the collection, its cute and wearable nothing innovative or new but there are some really nice pieces and absolutely love those boots!!

the lace pieces and the jackets are so gorgeous.. it's hard to get past Emmanuelle's 'magical' touch (sweat pants included) but once you do it, it's Isabel at its best..

It's omitting a Sass & Bide feel to me for some reason.. I've no idea why..

Some pieces are truly amazing, in particular the lace pieces and the structure pieces, some outfits look like nice flowy dresses with blazers, i love that vibe...

The rest is way too country for me.. and not in a good way

You could find most of these pieces in vintage stores or any kind of store to be honest.

Very nice collection - I'm glad she ditched the plaid trucker thing. BUT with the exception of some of the printed jacktes/skirts/pants - all of this has already been available to purchase from other designers and shops.

I'm reminded of the Stella McCartney lace from last season when I see this.

:innocent:

Thank you Mullet!

What is wrong with the styling? I sincerely do not see it, i think everything looks lovely and of course very Alt.

^ I think that's my main complain about Alt (and her boss, too). Their personal style (which is what they sell - the tributes they make to themselves) is heavily influenced by celebrity culture, they're extremely body conscious in a conventional way that doesn't intrigue you or is individual in terms of style or brings anything new to the table like often Paris-based artists manage to do as they're perfectly balanced between mental and body aesthetics. and the worst part for me is that they do openly promote themselves as the epitome of 'Parisian Style'. it doesn't offend me, I'm not from Paris!, but it gets on my nerves to see them all over the shows turning everything and everyone into the same clone they show month after month in their overhyped publication. People complain a lot about the mafia-esque ways their American counterparts exhibit (led by Ms. Wintour), but I see little difference when it comes to Alt and Roitfeld.. it's a good thing Tisci can be stubborn enough with his creations because both Marant and Decarnin seem to be visually losing it under the influence of Carine's posse.
