aby, every time I see that picture of you in the white dress, I can't help but think that this is just how IM would have wanted it worn. just lovely!

I received a large assortment of Spring garments earlier this week from Curve on approval. talk about a kid in a candystore...fun, fun, fun. I can't express enough, how impressed I am every time I get to see more of this collection up close, its so darn wearable and has such a downtown vibe to it, a bit grungy but still crisp, hope that make sense?

included in the package was:
white/navy smock dress with pockets
black cotton/linen short skirt with white/black/white striped elastic waistband and pockets of course
caramel and ivory linen ss henley tee

all of the above I kept since I sent the camo dress back, it wasnt that pretty on me.

these went back: all were great pieces but not all suited my body type.
tan/black print pajama pant
black tribal silk sheer tunic
black silk cropped pants with snaps on belt and legs
ivory linen ss top with scarf cowl neck

So here are pics of the white embroided dress.

I'm unsure about it because of the shape which is very retro 20's with a low waist and of the short collar.

So I tried it with a tan braided belt and I think it works better.

I would wear an army jacket over or a knitted cardigan, when the weather decides to get more Spring-like...

Wow! That is a very pretty dress Aby!

aby - i love that dress on you, you look beautiful!
lucky - you should know by now you can't get away with posting about your goodies without pictures!!!

Luckyme - was the black tribal silk sheer tunic that you rejected part of the Nomade Chiffon collection which was featured on the catwalk in various guises in both the black and green? As I'd be interested to know why it didn't work for you as I'm currently torn over whether to get the sleeveless top version in black. My concerns are that while beautiful and original that the embroidery is very fragile and slightly too heavy for the chiffon fabric and also the cut is pretty huge on me even in the zero.

hi grill, yes, that was the top. I tried the black sleeveless tunic. it was very fragile and sheer. not heavy in the slightest though. the flower print was very pretty, the embroidery was braided I believe, and the tassels were are nice touch but I wish they had more substance to them. The style is very delicate and meant to be layered. I already have a sheer black floral top so I didnt see the reason to keep this one but I also didnt love the sleeveless style and it was so fragile that some of the silk threads might fray easily. all in all it was too delicate a top to suit my lifestyle. hope that helps you out, but if I were you I'd go see it in person.

I found these pictures on flicker of the ss top up close and the fish necklace.

^ yes! Luckyme - that's the style I was thinking about getting but in the tank version. It's beautiful but obviously fragile - the woven threads notwithstanding! I have seen it IRL but wasn't sure the first time I tried it on. However, as I'm obviously not over it I will try to revisit it tomorrow to make a final decision.

I like the fish portion of the fish necklace...reminds me of antique mother of pearl gambling chips. Which reminds me, I have some in a drawer somewhere...(craft project :woot:).

shopjake.com just got in quite the grouping of this collection. and if you use stylediary you can 20% off.

Thanks, I didn't realize Jake carried IM...I love this dress and scarf but at $890 for the dress and $530 for the scarf they won't be going home with me...and, to add insult to injury, the sales tax just got increased in Chicago .

hmmm...those are really nice...

*i'm not sure i love the shirt i got now that i have it...:ermm:...
..

maybe i will have different feelings when the weather is more consistently springlike...

lucky - I'm loving those pictures from the IM storefront you posted. I would totally wear that outfit with the fish necklace ... actually, I have a very similar outfit in my rotation. I love the other outfit as well, but I still haven't figured out the whole short skirt thing ...

hebden - lovely choice, and I agree with you on the prices!! I love that dress too but felt real sticker shock at the price. Maybe I've become too used to the Etoile pricing.

soft - it could be that you are just moving away from the whole romantic bohemian style in general? I actually wear mine shirt almost every week, but it's been in the 70's around here.

there is a seller on ebay selling a bunch of IM stuff- looks like most of it from the F07 collection... seller name: free.anatomy :flower:

those are really lovely heb.

does anyone else find the prices absolutely insane? 1k for those runway dresses...

I rushed down to rue du charonne late this afternoon, to re-try on the nomade georgette top - same fabric and embroidery as the one posted in the window pics by Luckyme, only in a tank style. Only to reject it again - there's something about the fragility of the piece that is putting me off. It looked vaguely like it could be on the point of disintegrating in the shop so heaven knows what it would look like after several wears and a trip to the dry cleaners. Also the cut and the sheerness meant that it wasn't the easy to throw on but "special" piece I was hoping for.

grill, I'm on board with your impression, that's exactly how I felt.

what's so weird about the pricing laika, is that each store is totally different. I found Curve to have the best prices but even there, it depends on whether its IM mainline or Etoile IM.

after buying one of her skirts this year, I am hooked. I'm quickly adding more Isabel pieces to my wardrobe! She's like my lovely little French secret here in the States.

not really so much of a secret anymore...
with stuff being more available and with stuff selling out before it even arrives in stores..
it's becoming pretty widespread...

and i'm with you laika...
those prices have definitely gone up from past seasons...
and i am not really feeling that...

i mean...
i like some of the stuff well enough...
but ...i don't know if it's because of the weak dollar that the prices are so high here...
but it's really not ok....
because it is SO much less in europe, comparatively speaking!...
that is...IF you are buying with euros~!

softie, i think you and i are just hype allergic. it's a terrible malady. :p
