Yes they do. You've never met a jew with the name Moishe or Moshe?
That is the yiddish and hebrew form of Moses. Trust me in the fact that there are quite a few of them living in Montreal.

I recently corrected exams for 3 classes and there were quite a few Moshes, Moishes and Moses with very jewish last names.

Plus every jewish deli in Montreal is called Moishe's Deli
yes, moshe is a common israeli name, but not "moses"

But it is the hebrew form of Moses, right?

For all we know she may have wanted stick to her jewish roots and name him Moses because it was the english form of Moshe.

In Spanish it is technically Moisés but in English people say Moses.

a bit unnecessary. two famous parents and now a godly namesake.
do they not realise they still have years to give the child a superiority complex...

if people name their child jesus, are they giving their child a superiority complex?? and i know that people are name jesus.......i think that some people are taking this too far. the name they chose for their child is a symbol of their love for one another.

I feel so silly for saying this, but I had hoped they would call him Orange. It would've been brilliant in a bizarre sort of way  ahem, and congrats to them! :flower:

I agree, this is a total letdown ... only Moses ... Perhaps the next one can be Bullrush? or Golden Calf? Stone Tablet ... Commandment ... Thou Shalt ... Thou Shalt Not ...

I don't understand why there's this big fuss about the name 'Moses'. It's a bibical name just like Joshua, Matthew, Samuel and Mary.

yeah..for god sake Mary is no.1 woman in christian religion and there are so many girls with that name and no one makes any fuss about it

that's what i'm saying!!! :flower:

You guys are funny. :p It does seem like her pregnancy was really fast. I can't believe she had a baby before Angelina.

So I take it she is going the more traditional route and not hyphenating the last name. Moses Martin sounds nice, but the Martin part is so Blah.. Just kidding.:woot:

I heard she went into labor almost 6 weeks early.
Hope she and baby are doing okay.

I hope so too, and I hope that if she was 6 weeks early, it didn't have anything to do with the alcohol :(

Moses is a fine name, I wouldn't use it, but I don't find it any more "religious" than Mary, or John.

I have also read ( on gossip sites, might not be true) that she actually scheduled the c-section ahead of time so she wouldn't have to go full term...
I have heard of alot of celebs doing that but it seems just insane to me.

Gah, that's worse than the beer! I really don't want to be one of the jump-on-Gwenyth people, but that's not winning any points

Really hope she and Moses (and Apple and Chris) are healthy and happy though, they're a beautiful family, and seem very close and stable :flower:

why would anyone do that!!! i hope that she did go into labor early and i refuse to believe that she drank during her pregnancy! i just dont think that a doctor would allow his or her patient to schedule an early c-section. is that even safe?!?!

nah..i don't think that's true, she had this pregnancy to the fullest.

Call me crazy, but I think Apple and Moses are really cool names. Also, I find it incredibly romantic that they named their son after a (really really really good) song Chris wrote for Gwyneth. And man, these kids are going to grow up to be ridiculously beautiful.

Having the occasional beer is not usually harmful to the baby, especially later in pregnancy. In a lot of cultures it is encouraged to drink the occasional beer.

If she had high blood pressure or any other possible complications, then she could have a c-section as early as 37 weeks with no risk to the baby. I had one at 37 weeks when my blood pressure wouldn't go down.

When you have no complications at all doctors are usually allowed to schedule them at 38 or 39 weeks.

Just my 2 cents.

This may sound crude, but there was a teacher in the 7th grade with the name Dick Strohker. There could be worse names than Moses Martin
