Ooooh, yes that hair reminds me of the Dior ad hair.....
ooohh good observation!! so true too ;)

Although I would never wear cowboy boots, this girl actually makes them look good...

The Japanese style clothing is REALLY popular here in Hawaii, esp. in honolulu and waikiki, mostly due to the large % of tourists down there.

The key is thin layers and combining many different pieces. Also, the shirts tend to be longer (ending at lower hip, not upper hip as most American RTW designers do) and in a "kimono" cut ( a deep V or deep crossover top).

Its a fun way to dress, but I think its easy to make an outfit become a fashion distaster.

I know what you mean about a different cut, oceanharlot. I have started shopping at Chinease stores, which have kind of similar fashions, and I have definately noticed the difference. I think there is less of an emphasis on the waist and bust in this style of clothing, and some of the tops actually remind me of 1920's lines. Flat shoes and slouchy boots tend to be popular as well. I also like the shorter haircuts, which always look so unique. I really love this look, since the clothing tends to be more unusual and also seems to flatter my particular body type better. Yay for Asian clothing and the stylish people of Tokyo!

the clothes are cut much looser, more fabric at the bottom hem (have you ever worn a boyfriend sweater? with the band at the bottom? like that). skinny pants and leg warmers and simple soft fabrics are used often too. not as much emphasis on tight, lace, satin, low cut, spagetti straps or lots of skin. Its a body conscious look, without showing britney amounts of skin

its fun stuff you know. there are some really good ebay stores that carry them... damnit now all my unique stuff will be known to the world. lol

I agree, I think the cut is quite flattering without being revealing. :flower: Unfourtunately, the only online shops I know of are the ones I've already listed, and I'm too chicken to shop online anyway... (Sharing is good, by the way...hint, hint...) :P

Sometimes I wish I could order online... By the way, if anyone knows where I could get a similar peacoat (green is nice too), I would be most grateful! :woot: :flower:

Here is a closeup of the yellow one...It is only about $35 (shipping included) I think... :(

the ones purplelucrezia posted, cute and interesting indeed.
but the more I look at those, the more I feel that they are too girly (or childish? -- sorry can't find the right word, don't know how to describe), as if some kind of teen style, which is totally not for me I guess
I really prefer something chic yet elegant & feminine ;)

Sorry... couldn't find anymore other than my eBay shops... hehe
haha, those are ok, I mean at least they suit my taste & style better, but still not exactly.
however, the thing is, those outfits aren't really typical Japanese style to me, at least I've seen westerners wearing things like that around :P
the typical Japanese street style in my eyes are pretty much the pictures posted here in this thread, could be cute and interesting, could be funky or werid  , could be totally go too far and unattractive  IMO

its all about attitude and combination of different pieces. thats what makes japanese street style work. each piece on its own could be ugly, trashy, trendy, elegant or retro... its the art of combination that makes the look work.

I find this picture very adorable, not because I think the clothes are stylish but because the girl looks very thoughtful and confident in herself in that right moment and allso because of the contrast how she stand out from the gray mass of people behind her.

thats the basic idea behind japanese streetstyle, i so agree with you, welcometo the FS isolde :flower:

i also like the gold bag purplelucrezia posted

:woot: ocean, how fantastic , you live in Hawaii , lucky girl

hmmm.....I do agree with you in a way.
but sometimes things could be just the opposite,
some pieces could be nice on their own,
but the combination could just be really ugly and doesn't work at all, IMO.
anyway, this could happen to whatever style, not just Japanese style. ;)
