Jil Sander F/W 2013.14 Milan

Like her menswear collection, but unlike Raf's, I think she's doing a pretty good job w/ the footwear. I can do w/o the ones w/ the big buckle across the foot (those big buckles immediately reminded me of MJ's pilgrim shoes), but they're not entirely bad..and the black & red are quite nice (style.com)

i like those little booties too. jil always had great footwear before she departed so it's not a surprise they remain a strength of hers.

I felt the urge to dig out this collection again as another take on 'minimalist fashion' for the intellectual woman, with a different take on sculptural volume than Phoebe Philo's.

Jil didn't receive much love for this collection - I remember seeing it in stores though and the cut and fabrication of those clothes really was exquisite; extremely substantial wool felt for the outerwear with raw edges provided a lovely, 'primitive' touch to those exacting and precise cuts.

Here's hoping Jil comes back at least one more time for another +J run at Uniqlo!

Oh yes, I still remember going through the menswear section for the season at their store 10 years ago and being struck by how considered everything was - the slightly smoothened wool fabrics, the combination of a purplish navy blue with cherry red, the precision of the cuts, the satisfying perfection of the stiches.. it was some of the most pristine tailoring I've ever seen in person.
