Prada F/W 12.13 Milan

It's Prada spring 1996 all over again..same kind of silhouette, same kind of '70s wallpaper prints..meh..

Definitely. And the prints are very similar, or the same from the 90s. Miuccia been revisiting and updating her greatest hits lately, and doing quite well. She definitely deserves this retread, since her spectacular vocabulary to fashion has been so vast and influential, and this collection is much welcomed (for me, anyways. And I'm sure it'll sell very well), but there's not much newness here, just very Prada. Like it very much-- don't love it though.

This collection is amazing! Though it does remind me of Miu Miu fw10.
I loved the embellishments the color palette and the patterns!

I am one of Prada's biggest fans, but I have to say this collection has disappointed me greatly. I love Miuccia, but her last two collections have been so strange to me.

This one in particular was an awful awful collection; possibly of of Miuccia's worst ever. Has she completely lost her mind? About 99% of this just screams 'fashion victim'. A high-waisted skirt worn over pants, combined with a cropped jacket? I pity the woman who buys into this 'vision'.

What I fail to understand in this collection is where her taste level has gone? Everything is so incredibly kitschy and unflattering. I have tried to see how these pieces could work, but to be honest, a lot of these pieces alone, as single pieces, are truly hideous. Those sleeveless long overcoats with embellishment are nightmarish at the least.

I just don't understand how this vision could have come from the same mind that produced such epic collections like Fall 2006, and Fall 2009...

Am I the only one that sees an Asiatic influence? I mean, some of the silhouettes look a bit similar to the Chanel Bombay show.

That notwithstanding, the collection is quintessentially Prada. Definitely more wearable than the previous collection. I'd be astounded if I don't see Wintour/Dello Russo in one of these pieces within a couple of weeks, if not days.

SO agree with you. I really disliked it, would never wear it.

Trousers. Skirts. Coats. Black. Print. Layering. Major embellisment. Extraordinary shoes. NO dresses.

No dresses? Are you sure? Perhaps take another look

Perhaps the fact that all looks were worn with trousers deflected us, but what were the long garments over the top? Were they all coats? The two looks at the top of post #31 - coats? With a bodice part essentially a vest. Not much of a coat is it? And most of the looks at post #32 have two layers from the torso. Two coats?

But you have uncovered perhaps the only interesting aspect of the collection. There's a study of where a coat ends and a dress begins. A play on the ambiguous ground between the two forms.

The looks at post #32, if we've to apply a word to the garment beneath the outer layer perhaps we'd best say kaftan? And what is a kaftan? Is it a coat or a dress? Or neither?

As we're situated, with the graphic triangle and hexagon prints, somewhere between late 60's minimalist art and late 60's/early 70's psychedelia, yes kaftans - the bringing into western dress of eastern, largely islamic, forms.

Our western eye wants to convert the looks into standard western forms - trousers or dresses/skirts as an alternative to one another. And a coat as outerwear distinct from those other forms. But Miuccia's blurred the lines, mashed the boundaries and left the question whether there are 'dresses' in this collection as an open one.

I'm really not ready yet for such a heavy dose of early 70's again. Honestly, I don't get this collection. The embellishments feel like an forced attempt to inject some life into otherwise dull clothes. The prints are too much on the eye for me and the flat shoes are just...ugh....some of the most aweful shoes I have ever seen in my life.

Nice shades and bags though.

I think this is Miu Miu F/W 10.11 - LOOOve and that long hair make me really crazy!
