A bit, yes. It could have been more casual for what I am seeing now, but I still kind of like it. Even though I would prob never wear it...

It's the usual story when a design team replaces an icon , they stick far too closely to what has gone before .

It happened with Franco Moschino , and will happen with Helmut Lang .

The bright light on the horizon is that Raf Simons will actually move the house forward , designwise , as ironically , Milan Vukmircovic was beginning to do at Jil Sander , before her return .

Ca , c'est la vie , malheueusement .............:innocent:

Mein Gott. We have ways of making Jil Sander look camp with little girly polo shirts and man-bags.

looks very similar to what Jil designed for her spring summer 2005 collection

^Agreed, I would have thought the team desgnng this collecton would try and capture the essence of Jil Sander not copy exactly what she has done before

I don't like it, FW05 was a much stronger collection (I loved the rounded shoulders). Ah well, at least it'll make Raf's collection look better :p

I dont want to hot-headedly say anything bad, but I have a question for Raf Simons (is it)? Whats up with the seersucker? I saw almost very one of those looks were seen at Club Monaco this Spring.

Raf's first collection for Jil Sander will be FW06, SS06 was done by the design team.

Thanks, drexl. That would explain why the collection hasnt gone forward. The neat suits, the skiny ties, the denim with turn-ups, the ikats...are all still there.

But, Kit and others, what can one expect from the house of Sander? How can one move such degree of minimalism forward exactly? Jil or the design team - I couldn't tell the difference for the life of me. But this is exactly while Jil and Helmut will always crash and burn without their namesake designers. That was my point all along - that people don't simply buy their clothes - they buy a certain state of mind, or an aura if you will, that comes with what the namesake designers of these labels have come to represent.

I've just seen the whole show up on catwalking.com, in all its not the best collection but there are a few nice graphic print shirts

I do agree , faust :flower:

BUT Jil was beginning to move her ideas forward in her womenswear , a touch of that is what is missing in this collection .

You're right , of course , these houses cannot exist without their founders , but in the inevitable context of Bertelli keeping the house going in order to sell it , one would have thought that he or more likely , Miuccia , would have demanded a little more than ' same as last time , please ' . There's minimalism and minimalism , but one does not need to employ it all the time with schoolboy style ankle skimming , or vaguely military tapered , trousers with slim pastel coloured ' beautiful young man ' style jackets . There MUST be somewhere different to seek inspiration and leave all the juvenile schoolboy references to PRADA and MIU MIU .

I just cannot see clients piling into the vast Jil Sander London flagship near Burlington Arcade , placing orders for these clothes fom the ' look-book ' , as they will find clothes elswhere that are spare and fashion-forward . Stockists of Raf Simons , like Browns , are no doubt already rubbing their hands in glee , with Harvey Nicks weeping bitter tears for having decided to drop Raf .

Ca , c'est la vie .............

are we talking here about minimalism or simply no new ideas??
that little I've seen ,I didn't like it
