Quite disappointing, to be honest. I actually thought he would end up with something less "plain"... and by that, I don´t mean overtly embellished clothes (which are not really Jil Sander), but something more architectural. I have gone through the pictures several times and was desperately looking for a hint of design, but could only find some of Raf´s favourite (but ill-fitted) overcoats and puffy down jackets in there. None of the shapes are really distinct as in his mainline, neither oversized, nor sharp fitted. I hope his mainline collection will end up looking better than this...

Almost b&w collection. I like it:-P

The overcoat is superb, they quite remind me of the first Jil collection.

Pics from modaonline.it. Thanks, Tricot:-)

hmm...quite disappointing, to be honest. From the first post alone I was kind of hopeful as it seemed to harken back to the Jil Sander/Helmut Lang style of minimalism that I grew up appreciating, but after seeing more pictures I can't say I'm terribly excited. A lot of this seems to be a continuation of Raf's tailored pieces in his own main line collections, the cut from the suits and coats hasn't seem to changed (and I'm not really a fan of the way he cuts his suits nowadays, I'm not familiar with the past collections in the 90's so I can't comment on what it was like then, if it was different). The knitwear doesn't do much for me with those awkward collars, the two pieces I do like are the hooded pullover and the waxed material looking overcoat (the single breasted one, i don't like the double breasted version or the raincoat versions at all). A lot of the coats here look kind of ill fitting.

edit: Jost hit the nail on the head...the shapes here don't look very 'distinct' at all. Overall the collection leaves me kind of hanging...although the looks in the first post of this thread are nice.

The hooded piece and a few of the jackets are just great. The rest looks really plain, not in a minimalist sense either...

Not something i would wear..

but still, i think it looks good.. although it isn't as well put together as when Jil Sander herself was CD...

I think it needs some time to grow on me ^_^

This is terrible. BTW, are you sure this is Raf? I thought he will be doing women's?

Don't know if that was a joke, but I think it is Raf...those shoes that were featured on men.style.com recently said they were collaboration between Raf Simons and Church's, so I think he's in charge of both the mens and women's (which is insane given how many collections overall he's churning out a year at this point). At least the cuts look quite Raf-ish.

i was there
i woke up early in the sunday morning.......
i should go to party last night

I don't like it. I am just not the Jil Sander kind of guy...

unfortunately, the link won't load for me. but from what you're saying i'm ready to grieve, Jil Sander is always my favourite after Miu Miu.

Yes, this is Raf. He appreared at the end of the show.

The colour palette is not JS, neither the feel of materials... The look is sharper than JS used to be. But I think it is OK. It's not about making JS again (it could look like a caricature of her style). Are theres still light and "pure"?:-) Maybe not in a boxy jkt, but in general, in less formal pieces, yes.

I think the b&w and plainness could really stand out this season. Too soon to jugde, tho:-)
