John Galliano S/S 07 Paris

i cant believe this is so soo soooo sooooooo wearable!!!
those deep colours is imo what dior lacked this season as i dont know accesories maybe...

 Wonderful collection. Yes, so wearable compared to last seasons.

i dont get it..does galliano have a special ticket to always be the same and still get raving reviews but other designers have to be desperatly different every season or else they will get crushed by tfs

But, he really isn't known for coming up with innovative ways to construct things... is he? At least, thats not why I love his collections.

I think he does make incredible techniques for making clothes
I can see a great deal of construction, and great cuts and so..
but still...it is awful clothes to wear!!!

This collection is AMAZING! My favorite of the S/S 07 season. Its so creative yet so wearable. Bravo John Galliano, you're a genius!

P.S. I love the shoes!

thr problem at Dior wasn't the hair or make up or clothes...The problem (if you think there's one) was the pressure M. Arnault put on terminator Galliano shoulders! John must SELL so his collection for Dior has to be wearable and "vendable"...everything is money! Dior is great House of Couture and...€€€!:innocent:

could we please have some validation of the source of this information.
as far as i know, Christian Dior has been one of the most successful houses in the LVMH stable, under the creative direction of Mr Galliano.
the thing is the collection that is shown on the runway is not often the collection that is sold in the stores.
a large part of what is stocked by the stores (50-70%) comes from the pre-collections of these large companies.
so it would be really surprising for Mr Arnault to issue such an ultimatum.
Johns work has never largey been to make real clothes for the fashion shows, but to create collections for shows that makes the brand interesting and desireable to the customers.
the shoes, bags, leather goods, perfumes, showroom collections etc. is what really takes care of sales
that said, he has done two great collections in one season. and i really appreciate him doing that.
wherever he is right now both mentally and creatively, lets hope he stays there, as this is him at his best, it is amazing that someone as good as he is (and was before the hobo collection of 2000) has given us such crap of collections for the past 6 years.
lets whish him all the best and hope he continues in this vein for seasons to come.....................

this collection is great. if only he did it for Dior but.. he did it for himself. he deserves it .. he is the best .. i am sure miss galliano loved 2

Now This Is What The Christian Dior Show Should Have Been....

this didnt feel like a galliano show to me...more like Ungaro with a nod to Yohji Yamamoto toward the end of the show....

whats going on in galliano's mind? Dior show was for the ladiees who lunch mentality and this is basically commercial as well... too bad:cry:

I'm not really a fan of any of it other than the headpieces...but those are amazing

This is not necessarily a negative judgement, but the uncontrolled extravagant touches do remind me of a graduate collection. Albeit a graduate collection with a team and a higher budget behind it. I guess it's nice that it is a tribute to the beautiful, and not underwritten with a complex undertone that Galliano likes to do with varying degress of success. I can like this like I can like a flower or a watercolour, but not like I can appreciate a good book or a Degas. I have room in my life to appreciate things on an aesthetic basis that doesn't concern about theory and intellectualism and concept. There are enough other pretentious designers in Paris- and New York, London and Milan, let's face it- to prove that a designer earns the right to introduce 'ideas' in their clothes that go beyond new uses of fabric, cut and colour.

I will, as ever, have to wait until I've seen the complete collection and the video, but this is another okay collection from an average Paris Fashion Week in a so-so season.

Galliano looks so handsome at the end of the show!!!!

Beautiful, Beautiful,
Beautiful!!!!

I think this is very wearable and very Galliano which usually doesn't go together. I love the way everything is just kind of hanging and draping such as the shoes and gowns and practically everything. I love the way the gowns have a liquid feel to them but unlike al lthe other labels they used color and not just your typical metallic gold liquid dress. I kind of wonder who the John Galliano customer typically is though..
