I'm wearing Mossy - are you jealous?
Grazia magazine has exclusively revealed that Kate Moss is indeed going to be launching her own collection and as the magazine warns people to 'form an orderly queue', I'm thinking this queue is going to wrap around the globe at least 3 times over. Moss is reported to have whispered to another guest at the AngloMania fashion ball a week ago:
'I'm going to take everyone on and I'm going to shock everyone. I know what works, I know what women want, and I know there is a money to be made. My name is my brand and it's going to be the biggest thing in fashion.'
This reads like a duff quote but it is very unlike Grazia to report false news (no magazine wants to be sued for libel....). It may be the words of an egomaniac to some but what she is saying rings true - Kate Moss definitely knows her worth and you and I may not like it but there are literally scores of females who will proclaim her label to be the biggest thing in fashion. The article then goes on to quote a 'colleague' of Kate's very lengthily who seems to give the full scoop:
'Kate has been saying that she would like it to be quite sophisticated and not at all boho chic. She is planning some casual pieces and even some evening wear in the collection but it is likely to be quite high-end funky jackets in the style of her great friend Stella McCartney. She is still in talks with various people about putting the line together. But she is clear about the direction she wants to take - she loves Stella's clothes and would like to do something similar.'
'Clearly it makes business sense to have Kate at the forefront of the campaign, as her endorsement of any clothing item usually means it flies off the shelves within hours. But at a later date, when the collection is established, she may well enlist her friends Naomi Campbell and Helena Christensen to do some modelling.'
'Kate will be overseeing the whole design and presumably, ensuring the clothes have enough of the "Kate sparkle" that has mae her into such a style icon. No contracts have been signed yet, so there is no launch date - although she is looking at getting something underway by next year. The sky's the limit really....
'And of course, Kate can use her considerable contacts to promote the line when it's ready. She has the clout to do big fashion shoots with the clothes in glossy magazines, as she is such a big draw for those sort of publications.'
I would be interested to know who is this colleague who has stupidly spilled the beans and revealed so much detail IF this is all true. If it is all just speculation then that's just as stupid. However, I have my suspicions that this is indeed all about to explode upon us in one big fashion pandemonium.
Grazia have already started to predict what the collection will consist of namely, leather jackets, skinny jeans, tuxedos, tailored jackets and waistcoats. I'm sorry but please wake me up, whilst I'm falling asleep.... *yawn*. The only way I think this could be something fabulous is if Kate does indeed 'shock' us and show us the unexpected element of her style that she frequently comes out with. I respect Kate Moss for her ability to wear something surprising and make it her own, NOT for making the skinny jean
de rigeur for the entire female population.
Lastly, not that it matters what the hell she calls this label because she could call it 'turd' and still probably make it sell like hotcakes but she is apparently considering names like 'Kate', 'Mossy' (a nickname amongst her friends?!?) or 'Lila Loves' in honour of her daughter. Hmmm...me thinks she might want to give those names a little rethink.....
