Katie Holmes

^ that sucks for Katie BIG TIME!...but it still might be broadcasted in internationally even though it probably won't be in the US

The miniseries is still scheduled to air in Canada on March 6, and will still be broadcast internationally.

But the U.S. cancellation no doubt is a disappointment in an otherwise blockbuster era for AETN president and CEO Abbe Raven and Dubuc, both of whom championed the project. AETN, owned by a consortium comprised of Hearst, Disney-ABC Television Group and NBC Universal, enjoyed its most-watched year ever in 2010, with its six Nielsen-rated networks posting combined year-over-year viewership growth in each quarter. In addition, History is now a Top 5 cable network in all demos, fueled by hit original series such as Pawn Stars and Ice Road Truckers.

The Kennedys cancellation somewhat mirrors the fate of The Reagans, a miniseries that was to air on CBS in 2003 but was scrapped when advertisers threatened to boycott after conservatives raised concerns about depictions of former president Ronald Reagan being insensitive to AIDS victims. The Reagans later aired on Showtime.

THR has learned that producers of The Kennedys might make a similar move to bring the miniseries to a pay cable channel.

I cant figure out why they didnt style the cover more like the editorial. She looks way better there but so generic on the cover. Weird.

SMOKING in Elle. Just imagine if she carried this same persona with her at events/the red carpet...

I toatlly agree with you. Wish she had the same confidence on the carpet, instead she always looks so vacant.

I was looking forward to watching it:(

Me too.:( I didn't really care about accuracies, I thought it was for fun anyway :ermm: but I was just watching for the fashion and drama of it all. :p^_^ Here is the trailer. I don't think it was posted? Katie looks so amazing in it!

I had never noticed the similarity between Katie and Jackie before, but watching the trailer for that series I can really see it. Amazing. Hopefully it's aired somewhere because it looks fascinating.

I've also read that it was cancelled due to not being accurate historically. Does anyone know what they mean by that? What channel is going to air it now in the US?

It hasn't found another network to pick it up yet.

People are saying it was cancelled due to pressure from the Kennedys because it doesn't really paint their family in a positive light.

2011 - EXCLUSIVE: History Channel Pulls ‘The Kennedys’; Says Controversial Miniseries ‘Not a Fit’

Cutting her Thanksgiving weekend short, Katie Holmes arrived for her Sunday morning ELLE cover shoot channeling her most talked-about alter ego since Joey Potter. In March, she’ll play fashion’s favorite first lady, Jackie Kennedy, in the History channel’s first scripted miniseries, The Kennedys. From the looks of things, she picked up a style secret or two from her character; her ultrachic Isabel Marant lavender short-sleeve sweater and black cropped pants telegraphed the elegance of a modern-day Camelot. Holmes was happy to step into something a bit friskier, though—her shoot was inspired by the dark, sexy drama of the 1992 Japanese movie Tokyo Decadence. When Holmes’ iconic family arrived at the L.A. studio, four-year-old Suri got to work helping her mom dress up in looks from Stella McCartney, Phillip Lim, and her own Holmes & Yang label. Meanwhile, husband Tom Cruise sneaked off to admire the selection of vintage and fine jewelry for the shoot, admitting that he was on the hunt for the perfect gift for his leading lady. Soy latte in hand, Holmes dialed up Michael Jackson and Beyoncé on her iPod and watched Suri and Cruise play tag, the little one waving to Mom between giggles. Later in the day, designer Tom Ford, who was shooting in a studio nearby, dropped in to say hello; after he left, Holmes donned a body-con backless dress from the designer’s new collection. Her look was a long way from the sweet girl from down the creek.

On working hard to perfect her role as former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy: “I worked as hard as I could, because I loved her. On set there was this feeling that we had to create something very special, because these people were very special.”

On playing such a complex role: “[The Kennedys] were like movie stars. There was such a professionalism to their public image.”

On admiring Jackie Kennedy’s strength: “I didn’t realize that she had lost a child in August and then [Jack] was assassinated in November. I couldn’t believe it. She had so much strength….I loved her love of family, how important it was for her to be a good mother.”

On the design process for her clothing line, Holmes & Yang: “I have such an appreciation for the fine details and the amount of work it takes. I really appreciate clothing and designers so much more. It’s made shopping even better.”

On decorating: “I like to create a nice table. I love roses and orchids and French tulips and berries, and then a lot of things that are just pretty and I have no idea what their names are.”

On Suri’s shopping style: “The other day we came out of a store, and she said, ‘I want to go there,’ pointing at another store quite a distance away. In that store was the dress that she wanted. I said, ‘Wow, Suri. You’re something. You picked that out from a football field away.’”
On getting fashion advice from Suri: “She’ll really tell me [what she thinks]. Like today I’m wearing brown suede pants, and she said, ‘I don’t like your pants.’ But then she’ll say, ‘You’ve got to wear these shoes.’ Or ‘That’s so pretty, Mom. Wear that.’ She’s got a great eye.”

On not letting the attention from the paparazzi get to her: “I don’t worry so much. It is what it is, and it’s fine. I’ll go somewhere because I need to get something done.”

^I agree and Suri, why is she wearing shorts and bare legs? Vancouver is cold right now.

Chloe Sevigny and Katie Holmes have been approached by producers to star together in a drama on Broadway.
Chloe Sevigny and Katie Holmes may appear in a Broadway play together.

Both actresses have been approached to star in an upcoming production of William Mastrosimone's drama 'Extremeties', which tells the story of a woman who "turns the tables" on a man who tries to r*pe her, but then struggles with her two roomates to decide what to do with him.

Chloe, who has appeared in two off-Broadway productions before, is still weighing up whether or not to accept the role.

The 36-year-old 'Big Love' star said: "I was reading it and I'm kind of seeing how the cast is gonna pan out. I know the director is great but I feel like the cast has gotta be real strong. And it's such a commitment."

A spokesperson for Katie - who appeared on stage in Arthur Miller's 'All My Sons' in 2008 - confirmed she has been approached for a role.

Producers have also talked to Matt Dillon about taking on the leading male role of the would-be r*pist but a spokeswoman for the 'Crash' actor has revealed he will not be accepting the part due to a scheduling conflict with another project.

'Extremeties' is likely to debut on Broadway either this season or during the 2011-12 season, with Kenny Leon directing.

Susan Sarandon and Farrah Fawcett have both starred in past productions of the play, with Farrah also appearing in the 1986 film version.

^^Actually I read online (several sources) that it's not because of that - it's because it's fiction and not at all accurate. Which makes sense. The history channel put SO MUCH money into this production, it must either be pretty bad, or totally inaccurate (worried about being sued later) for them to scrap it.

Yeah, not exactly warm here; we're supposed to have snow later this week. And why another messy topknot arrrgh. She looks so nice when she wears her hair down and makes more of an effort. I realize it is not easy, traveling, having a little one. But hair down, some nice jeans and a fitted coat would look fresher imo, oh well. Carry on Katie!
