J-Lo is friendly with Scieno Leah Remini. Wouldn't surprise me if they are trying to recruit her either as she's very wealthy. I'm doubtful that she and Tom are close, I think they were desperate for celeb guests so they took what they could get.

But there are new pictures of them all hanging out together. Maybe it's just something we never knew. Apparently these friendships grow quickly... I mean, who would have ever guessed that Katie and Posh would be BBF months ago?

^ their publicists? whatever they do, it always seems trivial to me ... i'm amused

what possibly deaths linked to scientology if you dont mind saying?

http://www.whyaretheydead.net/

Google "deaths scientology" and you'll get tons of links.

sorry if this sounds stupid or naiive but what does scientology stand for?and what is the religion like?

the story of Xenu and his Galactic Confederacy. Xenu (sometimes Xemu) is introduced as an alien ruler of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth in spacecraft resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living. The alien souls continue to do this today, causing a variety of physical ill-effects in modern-day humans. Hubbard called these clustered spirits "Body Thetans," and the advanced levels place considerable emphasis on isolating them and neutralizing their ill effects.[17]
Scientologists have argued that the published accounts of the Xenu story and other colourful teachings are distortions of their practice, presented out of context for the purpose of ridiculing their religion. Journalists and critics of Scientology counter that the Xenu episode is part of a much wider Scientology belief that past lives on other planets are a source of negative influences on the mind and spirit in the present. Some of this has been public knowledge for decades. For instance, Hubbard's 1958 book Have You Lived Before This Life documents past lives described by individual Scientologists during auditing sessions, including some that are reported to antedate what modern astronomy estimates as the age of the universe. Internal Scientology publications are often illustrated with pictures of spaceships and oblique references to catastrophic events that happened "75 million years ago" (i.e., the Xenu incident).[citation needed]
While reliable information about Scientology membership is notoriously elusive, there is little reason to doubt that most practicing Scientologists have not attained a sufficiently high level on "The Bridge" to have learned the details about Xenu and Body Thetans. Therefore, while knowledge of Xenu and Body Thetans is said to be crucial to the highest level church teachings, it cannot be regarded as a core belief of rank-and-file Scientologists.

Now you get why it's so ridiculous?

I read that Will Smith stated that he and Jada do not really believe in organized religion and he will not be converting, although he's still friends with mr cruise....

anyway, I don't see why there's hoop-la about them doing another wedding party, many *celebrities* have had 2 parties/receptions to accomidate family and friends. I don't know why it's so hard to be happy for other people.

Hey, this is a celebrity gossip forum, remember ? Having such high morals, what are you even doing here ? :innocent:

my disagreement with scientology doesn't come so much from their beliefs but from their irresponsibility in representing their views on psychology etc, and also from the supposed corruption both economically and morally. it's been said for years and years that l. ron hubbard created scientology on a drunken bet with another science fiction writer, as well as the possible deaths linked to scientology. but that's just me

I dunno if that's extremely funny or extremely sad... Probably both...

Oprah is on the outs with Clammy Cruise because in the minds of the public Oprah = manic couch jumping episode. Plus I think Oprah is way to smart to fall for the Scieno junk and so they are giving her a wide berth. If she's not going to join up and give 30% of her income and/or kiss tom's *** then they see no need to bother with her.

Frankly I think the "friendship" between the Beckhams and the Cruises is also based on the fact that they are very wealthy and the Scienos would love to have them.

"that's ridiculous, i really don't get why people are critisizing scientology, Scientology is actually very close to pyschiatry with out the drugs. "

How is Scientology close to Psychiatry? The Scienos actively try to destroy the reputation and careers of pyschiatrists? They certainly don't believe that illness like depression, autism or even AIDS exist, they have all merely been fabricated by the medical community just to get us hooked on drugs.

And yes Scientologists have died. People who were suffering from severe psychiatric disorders and who were forbidden from taking the necessary medication by their so called religion have harmed themselves and others.

Here are a few links to some cases.

This is a great site. Gives you some info on Scientology, some frightening quotes from L.Ron a mentions a few people who have fallen prey to the cult.

CBS recently aired an episode about a family of Scienos. The son had Schizophrenia but due to his "religion" he never recieved proper treatment so he stabbed his mother to death over 70 times.

Just google Scientology and deaths and you'll find plenty more examples.

Think how much more power Scientology might have if they got Oprah on their side, with all her money and influence. Thank goodness she's not falling for it.

The scienos are a money hungry organization and want people who are
wealthy that are sick to join them so they can have their money. That's why
they always preach about psychiatry...they are trying to tell people that drugs
are bad for you because they don't want people to spend money on drugs but
to join their cult and spend their money there. They know there is
tons of money in drugs so they act like their 'religion' is like an alternative
to drugs.....I question their motive...it's all about the almighty dollar.

just my opinion...

how have all these people, celebs included fallen prey to this religion?
i mean how does a reasonably, intelligent, critical person give their lives over to scientology?
what if you do not have the money to "enlighten" yourself?
also, why do they celebrate x-mas if they do not believe in jesus or christianity as a whole?

The reason why so many celebrities become Scientologists is become Scientology promises and preaches success. They think if they join it will better their careers and give them tips to stay at the top of their game.

I just assume everybody practice what they believe in... as long as they don't preach about it... as long as everybody respects their own and everyone else's religions and beliefs.

^my guess is they have this book called Scientology and Dianetics and it's written in a fashion that had things in there that alot of people may relate to or were searching for....things a person wanted to hear when searching for 'enlightment'...like christianity for example...they tell you to do certain things and you will go to heaven....and everyone wants to go to heaven!...and if you don't you will go to hell...blah bla and so forth

I came across that book years ago and did not read the whole book
but I have to say, at first, I was intrigued..but then i was like
balooooonnniiee!

yeah...I don't understand about them celebrating x-mas....

noooo!!! i'm so scared that Posh and Becks with become scienos!!! i hate that they're friends!!

I'm a Buddhist and I celebrate christmas.

I think a large number of celebs are very insecure, very stupid and very willing to buy into the latest fad or trend. They fear failure and they are willing to do whatever it takes to stay in the public eye. Scienos prey on those fears basically offering them courses and a way to help them in their careers and their lives. It used to be that the Scienos had big name celebs to tout as their success stories ie Tom, John T, Kirstie. This was back in the 80's/90's. Now Tom is a laughing stock, John is AWOL and rumored to be making a run for it and Kirstie is better known for her weight problems. (which btw why don't the scienos have some kind of over-eaters program when they manufacture a program for every other problem?) So the allure of Scientology being able to turn you into a big star is on the wane hence they need to recruit some new blood ie Katie and they are frantically going after other celebs.

Someone asked what about Scieno recruitees who are broke. Well they take them and put them to work - in the Sea Org or in one of their Scientology Centres. Basically you are an slave to the organization, we're taling dollars a week kind of salary. They keep people broke so they can't afford to leave.

"That's why they always preach about psychiatry...they are trying to tell people that drugs are bad for you because they don't want people to spend money on drugs"

Not really, The American Psychiatric Association came out hardcore against L.Ron and Scientology back when the cult first began. Basically the APA compared L.Ron's methods to brainwashing and denounced them. The Scienos couldn't have their members seeking pyschiatric help and risk all that programming coming undone so they banned members from seeking psychiatric help or using psychiatric drugs. All part of a plan to keep people under their own control and away from mental health professionals.

Interesting to note that L Ron was on psychiatric meds at the time of his death. Didn't believe in practicing what he preaches huh?
