Fashion Icon Lady Gaga Launches Dazzling Jewelry Collection

igew4x.jpg

Rodrigo Otazu, a native Argentinian who is famed among luxury jewelry designers, is collaborating with pop star Lady Gaga to create a visionary line of jewelry. Ever since she stepped on the scene Lady Gaga has been revered for her iconic fashion sense and outrageous style. Together with Otazu and creative director Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga will help to create a film for the Paris Fashion Week runway.

Gaga will be outfitted in top fashion design and luxury accessories, custom made by Otazu, during the film which is rumored to feature a sub-Saharan post-apocalyptic type terrain. However, this is not the first time the three have collaborated. In 2010, Formicetti, Gaga, and Otazu constructed Gaga’s controversial meat dress. Otazu designed the bedazzled beef clutch and other jewelry for the outfit.

The Lady Gaga collection features six Swarovski crystal necklaces which possess a tribal like quality. The line can be worn either together or separately. In addition to Gaga, Otazu has worked with celebrities such as Kylie Minogue, Beyonce, Kelis, Madonna, and Toni Braxton.

Indonesia's 'Little Monsters' Flock to the Site of Lady Gaga's Canceled Show

30jnvx3.jpg

Lady Gaga was never going to show up at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno stadium on Sunday. But that didn’t stop dozens of fans from gathering outside the stadium for a rally against the increasing influence of Indonesia's hard-line Islamist organizations.

Fans, known as “Little Monsters” placed flowers outside the stadium in a mock memorial service for “the death of freedom of expression in Indonesia.” Others staged a flash mob, dancing for seven minutes to a mix of the US pop star’s hits.

“We recorded [the rally] and uploaded it to the Internet so the world can see that not all Indonesians condone violence,” said Tria Meirina, one of the organizers of Sunday’s event.

Lady Gaga canceled her June 3 concert amid threats from the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), a hard-line Islamist organization. The National Police were cautious about issuing the concert a permit after the FPI threatened to storm the concert and “do what they must to stop the show.”

Ravi Agustiana came to Sunday’s demonstration after spending her entire savings on a ticket.

“I was so disappointed and sad when I heard that Gaga’s concert was canceled,” the 19 year-old said adding that she came on Sunday to ease the pain of not being able to see the singer live.

Fia Rahmatia, of Bandung, West Java, said she spread word of the rally through the Twitter account @IndoProGaga. Fia said that she was moved by Lady Gaga’s message of tolerance and equality.

“What we grasp from Gaga’s [message] is that we have to be courageous, have self respect, embrace diversity and Gaga also teaches about equality,” she said.

Others demonstrated outside the State Palace in Jakarta.

The gay and lesbian rights group OurVoice plans to file a complaint with the Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) over the Gaga debacle.

“This is not just about entertainment but something far more serious than that. This is an indication that we have lost our freedom,” OurVoice secretary general Hartoyo said.

Hartoyo said the government should not regulate art and entertainment.

“The music we hear, the books we read, the movies we watch, it is all regulated. What is this the stone age?” he asked.

Lady Gaga Suffers Concussion During Auckland Concert

Receives blow to the head, but goes on with the show

Lady Gaga received a concussion in the middle of her Born This Way Ball show in Auckland, New Zealand on Sunday. During the song "Judas," one of the dancers accidentally hit the singer on the head with a pole. According to fan site Gagamedia.net, Gaga continued with the performance for another 16 songs. "I want to apologize," she told the crowd. "I did hit my head and I think I may have a concussion but don’t you worry I will finish this show."

Lady Gaga's makeup artist later confirmed through Twitter that the singer was recovering:

"Gaga has a concussion but she is going to be okay. She wants u to know she loves u. I'm taking care of her.cant believe she finished the show."

Vogue Taps Lady Gaga for September Issue

memo-vouge-gaga.jpg

SECOND TIME’S A CHARM: When Lady Gaga’s first Vogue cover was published in March 2011, it was an instant hit at newsstand and eventually became the second biggest seller of the year. No wonder Vogue is going with Gaga again, this time for its all-important September cover. According to sources, Gaga has already been shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott to mark the debut of her first fragrance from Coty Beauty, which is set to come out sometime in the fall. The scent may be named Monster, according to reports. When she signed the license in September 2010, Gaga said it would smell of “blood and semen.” Perhaps she’ll tweak that description a bit for the Vogue reader.
