Lanvin F/W 2012.13 Paris

What is that monstrosity on Aymaline in post 8?

Yes it looks like she was sprayed with a load of squirty cream, the stuff that comes in aerosol cans.

The collection is looking like a curate's egg. It has a mid-section that contains perhaps toward Elbas's best work. There's an all black leather look that's hot and very right. But the closing stages are looking painfully wrong.

That's the thing with Alber - undoubtedly a wonderful dress-maker, a top technician - but he has an inconsistency, a tendancy to throw in some real howlers and which makes you question - just how cool is his eye, really?

Some of the things are bad, but the good really overcomes it.

Hmmm...I'm over Lanvin womenswear. This is the same thing we've been seeing for 4 years now. It's tired and doesn't look even remotely interesting, even. It's as if he doesn't even put any thought into the collections anymore and it's all reflex.

Lanvin Homme still is wonderful...there's always a heavy element of street to those collections that prevent the clothes from ever looking too bourgeoisie or self indulgent. Lanvin womenswear no longer has that street.

The collection got uglier and uglier as I kept scrolling down.

There are some weirdoes that look very out of place. I agree, the closer to the end, the uglier it gets. But generally I’m quite wowed by some of the looks, especially by those colourful dresses.

wow this is awesome! love the edgy take on office wear

Anna Dello Russo made an appearance at the close... Looks like he had some fun there!

glad he's being offensive for a change to disgust us a bit, lanvin was becoming way too vanilla for me..

really want to see alber singing!!!

I think this is one of Alber's worst collections to date. Firstly, it's more of the same stuff from the past few collections. Secondly, this is the ugliest, cheapest, and tackiest collection he has shown. I'm really disappointed with Alber. He seems to be stuck in a rut.

I sort of love the gaudiness at the end, like simplified Lacroix.

Agree! As I was scrolling down I was like "where is the Lanvin whimsy" ? and then BOOM there it was, all of a sudden all at the end....
I don't like the individual pieces in the last section but the styling is good.. I love the color coordination.
Blue gloves-red fur coat-fuchsia shoes is heaven to me!

oh for a while i thought i have seen it all before!! these is great!!!

Usually the last few dresses of a Lanvin collection are the best, but this time they're just horrible. What the hell are those things? And the furs are ugly too.

It's the gaudiness that makes it so fun! I think Alber just wanted to be fun, piss some people off a little, it's just so cool.

It started off so incredibly well, but I'm not sure I like the lace pieces. But seriously, it's mostly :woot:-worthy.

The start was incredibly, all the colours and shapes were so so coherent but then it went of track and all over the place but still a standout collection

I like it a lot. It just seems like a big, fun party (kind of like Alber) and I agree with everyone: started out strong then got a little weak...However, I really like the dress on Aymeline...it is getting a little familiar though.
