That Ashish dress looks completely out of place on the girl in post 1030! Some people can just not carry off his pieces. His A/W08 show was amazing, btw! Loved it.

for whoever said London street style isn't consistant.....I think it's important to keep in mind that what we see really isn't really a sampling of how everyone dresses. It's a very specific type of look that gets photographed over and over again. And yes, in general I would say Londoners dress more indie and more mix and match than let's say New York or Paris but I think it's totally wrong to compare them. I mean, when I was last in Paris, I really saw no one dressed as well as I see in the Paris Street Style thread. The people they shoot for these things are people who they think embodies paris street style. Though I think there's a lot more acceptance and approval in London for dressing offbeat and quirky.

its a mystery to me how anyone could say 'this city dresses like this and that city dresses like that' theres a general idea but unless u monitor every single person in that city and what she/he wears u can never really tell...there is certainly a special 'Parisian' look and a special 'London street style' but even that i think is limited to a special 'scene' whether its the fashion scene, the music scene, the art scene...etc.

^^ exsactly .. you can not honestly say you get all you influences from with in that city or country .. your have outside influences as well of course

I agree with you to a certain point but I still think you can dissect a typical London-look ... and that is what most of the age group 15-25 wears... it's very vintage inspired not afraid to mix prints often and very often a tan vintage bag.

They are in no way as crazy as the facehunter pictures as they are just taken in the East End/Shoreditch area..

I'm not saying they all dress like that but is very..shall I say..indie inspired.. I always feel like I am the only one drawn to a minimalistic sense of dressing..my mates don't really 'get' why I don't wear colours... in London I feel special but, actually..to my surprised missed standing out in Paris as in the chic areas everyone was wearing black!

It did get a tad dull... and coming home I actually had to put on an electric blue dress just to balance out my mood.

Is it weird while on holiday in Paris I was able to spot Londoners from miles away?:innocent:

it is so true. british trends are so annoying. im from london, bu every tome i go away,no matter where, u can always spot the english people a mile off

i'm excited about london style. what other city can claim that its individuality is mainstream? it's like one big eye candy shop. and in terms of trends: i feel like they change daily.
