London Street Style #1

it is so true. british trends are so annoying. im from london, bu every tome i go away,no matter where, u can always spot the english people a mile off

I think everyone feels this way at some point about their own nationality. Everytime on the tube I thought I've spotted an American or Candian, I've been right (yes I skulk behind to hear them talk!) and am annoyed that they are so obvious. Even two people who were dressed well (she in a cognac leather jacket) seemed american from their hair and the fact that the jacket looked like Mike & Chris. I think when you're from an area you just have an innate sense of others who are also from there. Everyone when they see my boyfriend say 'he looks SO british' so I mean, there are obviously certain looks which are typified and cross national boundaries, if this makes sense.

yeah i agree. That comment was nice. It is actually quite reassuring at the same time to see someone that, even though u dont know them, seems so familiar in a foreign place. I guess thats a good way to look at it...^_^

Do teenage guys still wear ridiculously tight skinny jeans in neon colours in London? Or is the new-rave thing completely over?

i havent seen it around really. though cassette playa seems to work it still. it's definatly on the way out. the new trend is black. you watch.

London style has been disappointing me recently. Londoners defintely have a more home-spun and youthful look, but most of them look sloppy and mis-matched (not in the way that works). Or they're just rave, which might have looked cool for a while but now is so boring and repetitive.

How about those plain, white velcro shoes I saw people wearing last summer? Lacoste and Adidas/Nike seemed to be the big brands. Are those shoes still in?

Do you reckon "hoyfashion" intended to call themselves "hotfashion", but at the last minute missed the T and hit the Y instead?!
