do you mean the partitioning of the hard drive?

ok, there you go :flower:

*open the program "Bootcamp"
*chose "windows partitioning"
*then chose the size of each volume. i'd suggest at min. 20 GB for Windows cause XP or Vista need about 9 GB of space (this takes some time, about 5 min)
*insert the windows disk & install windows (mac reboots)
*choose NTFS or FAT format (NTFS is more reliable but doesn't allow storing data on the Windows volume while working on MAC OS; the limit of FAT is 32 GB)
*when the installation is finished the mac will reboot under windows.
*you need to install a driver for windows (otherwise the apple keyboard will not work)
*drivers are all on MAC OS installation disk => remove windows disk & inster MAC OS disk

once everything is installed you need to choose which operating system will be standard. => MAC / Volume => then choose

to switch between the two:
*from MAC to Windows => MAC/configuration/volume/Windows
*from Windows to MAC => Boot camp symbol in task menu

hope that helps ;)

i received the mac book pro on my birthday and then couple of months later a new macbook green comes out :|
i hate it when i buy/receive something and then something better(?) comes along the way

Are you talking about the new macbooks in general with the unibody design, which are more environmentally friendly? Because either way, I wouldn't say it's better than a pro, which has better processor power and graphics cards, generally.

I was given a Macbook Air last year for my b'day and absolutely  it! We only have Mac's at home, could never go back (shame we don't use Mac's at work...)

I was getting tired of safari (though I liked some of their features), so I caved and went back to firefox and best.decision.ever. It combines the features of Safari i liked (bookmark bar) with the features that i missed from firefox (dropdown url selection, homepage button, etc). rah for the new firefox

^^firefox is definitely so much better...
i HATE using safari and avoid it at all costs..

they're both good but safari HAS been crashing a lot lately, hopefully they'll fix that soon.

i like how firefox scrolls gradually to a stop, nice touch that.

It's not the crashing. For me, it was the dedicated home button key (I just like being able to use it), the drop down url bar. But the big decider was the bookmark tab. I just hate having to go into the whole bookmark page to get what I want, whereas Firefox gives a drop down menu and from there, you can see what is in your other folders and click right to the page. (hope this makes sense!)

Safari (at least 4) has all that and more. Not shure what you mean about the home button key, but all the other features are there. Plus I ADORE the new top tabs, they take some time getting used to but when you do it's so much cleaner. http://www.apple.com/safari/download/

My firefox has been crashing a lot lately on my Mac, not sure why...

I have the MacBook Pro, not the latest one that came out but the one before. I was going to buy the new one until I went to the apple store and was messing with it... I dont like how the click is part of the mouse pad and I dont like the 3 fingers maneuver either :(

I guess I'll wait until they release another one (that's probably in the next 2 years) by then, I'll have the latest BlackBerry Bold :) hahahah

My mac book is buzzing any advice it is like what happens when you overrun a pc but this is a mac and none of my friends have had this problem. What should I do. Oh and it comes and goes even if I have just turned it on. Maybe the fan is off balance but I am not a computer person.

Hi Sophia!

If you are hearing a 'tic' sound you are in trouble! Take It to the apple store and tell them that your hard drive is making a 'tic' sound. If you are not hearing it then if can be either the fan or your cd drive. The fan would be the one that would come and go based on the cpu usage of your macbook. For example if you are viewing many videos on youtube and so forth. The cd sound you hear it when the computer is powering on or when you insert or eject something.

Hope this is somewhat helpful. I had the 'tic' sound and lost everything on my laptop :( I was in Dubai and there weren't any good apple dudes there so now I'm going to pay 2500$ to try to retreive all my stuff on that old hard disk :( my life is one there and pics/vids of me travelling the world (I've been to over 70 countries and proud of that too) :)

Firefox has the tabs at the top as well. By dedicated home key, I mean that there is a button to hit, to go to the home page. You don't have to do control + shift + h, to get there. And Safari does not have the same type of bookmark menu, you can to enter a whole new page to see all your bookmark folders (mine are divided for school work) so that's a hassle.

Its not a tic sound I should back up my hard drive anyway I think I will take it in this week.
