my last laptop was a sony vaio and i loved it. it just got older and slower. i definitely think sony and mac are the best brands out there.

ohhh rosemary you are making it still harder for me now i am even more split between the vaio and the mac - but let's face it - for the vain part of me i'm rooting for the mac but my brain can't wrap around the idea to pay that much more (like almost 800 bucks more) just for the design and the exclusitivity of it - when comparing the data (MB, Ghz, screen, battery ...)

fantastic because i'm hoping to upgrade soon to a 15 in. and perhaps this time they won't update the line so soon after i purchase either. right after they changed the old white and black models to just the aluminum i bought the standard macbook version and then three months later they changed them all to pros. it was so annoying.

yeah you can try to apply for financing--they run anywhere from 6,12 or 18 months. i tried that but it didn't work out for me so basically it was a real investment. or if you're in college you can probably get a student discount.

leyla,i agree. i hope they stay like this. maybe now that the focus is on the ipad and they've updated the macbook pros,they will remain as such for a while.

Yeah, you can get a college discount if you order online. It's -$100. Also some universities, like the one I go to, sell MacBooks at discounted prices or through monthly payments. I'm not too familiar with that system though.

yeah i m a real pain in the **** about that, but i never keep a drink around my computer, and i also never let anybody to put a drink near.
just an habit to take i think.

oh yes! i ruined my first laptop with juice. i almost ruined my sony also but they could replace the keyboard. i always use a second keyboard with my mac, so it's more likely to brake the additional one. i need my coffee in the morning with my mac, so i can't do the no drinks near the computer but i do try to put it further afar.
